David Schwimmer has recalled the seriously 'frightening' moment his fellow Friends star was rushed to hospital while filming an episode.

Schwimmer starred as Ross Geller on the beloved sitcom alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and the late Matthew Perry.

The cast clearly had a whale of a time both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, but it's clear it wasn't always smooth sailing.

Opening up about the 'genuinely frightening' moment while shooting an episode of Friends, Schwimmer told Entertainment Weekly: "During the live taping of the show, [LeBlanc] is supposed to do a kind of a pratfall, and he actually dislocated his shoulder."

The actor said LeBlanc went 'totally white', adding: "And he stood up, and I could see his shoulder was out.

"He looked like he was going to pass out."

Recalling that fateful day, Schwimmer remembers 'immediately turning to the camera' and asking them to 'cut'.

"That was genuinely frightening," he continued. "You could see how badly hurt he was. And we had to stop filming that night, obviously, and he went to hospital.

"That was scary."

LeBlanc's accident also briefly came up during the eagerly-awaited 2021 reunion special which saw the core cast and some very special guests sit down and watch never-before-aired footage behind the scenes of 'The One with the Jam' episode in the third season which saw him wincing throughout.

Following the success of Friends, Schwimmer went on to star in a number of other well-received films and TV shows with his latest project, Goosebumps, set to hit our screens next week (10 January).

Opening up about getting the call for the opportunity, Schwimmer told the outlet he had 'genuine excitement'.

"I was like, 'Wait, what?' Because I've never been able to act in horror-action-comedy, and I'm such a fan. I'm a genuine fan of horror," he admitted.

Schwimmer added: "Let me start by saying, even within the horror genre, there are so many types of horror.

"For me, what I love to do is to really kind of figure out, 'Okay, what is the tone here? What is the tone of this project?' Here, it's horror within a certain audience. It's geared toward a certain audience. There's also comedy, there's also action, and there's also drama."

The eight-episode series also stars the likes of Dead to Me's Sam McCarthy, The Pretenders star Francesca Noel and Line of Duty's Elijah M. Cooper.
