Emma Roberts opted for a unique look at her wedding and she’s now explaining the reason behind her choice.
The American Horror Stories star, 35, married Cody John in Idaho over the weekend and her dress for the after-party has raised some questions.
She chose a black two-piece Monique Lhuiller dress from the 2004 fall collection. Brides don’t typically wear black, as per wedding tradition, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to it.
The after-party outfit consisted of a black corset top in Chantilly lace with a tea-length skirt

“I love the idea of wearing black for the after-party,” she revealed in an interview with Vogue published the day after the ceremony. “We love doing something that’s a little unexpected.”
She called the look ‘so fun’ and continued: “This looks like it could be totally vintage from 100 years ago, or from now.”

For the ceremony itself, the mum wore a slightly off-white wedding gown designed by Monique Lhuillier for the couple’s outdoor ceremony on July 25.
As it turns out, she loves a vintage vibe and she wanted to embrace the theme for her nuptials. “I’m obsessed with antique books and treasure hunting and I love collecting old ephemera. So I really wanted that to shine through in the dress.”
She explained: “I kind of wanted to look like a ghost. A little antique ghost doll.”
Speaking of ghosts, the upcoming thirteenth season of American Horror Story in which Roberts will return and play her Coven character Madison Montgomery.

Roberts’ wedding came as the show wrapped filming and the ceremony had a host of celebrity guests. She was escorted down the aisle by her five-year-old son Rhodes, whom she shares with her ex, Garrett Hedlund. Emma's A-lister aunt, Julia Roberts, was also in attendance. Other celebrity guests included Ashley Benson, Kristen Stewart, fellow American Horror Story icon Sarah Paulson and co-star Billie Lourd.
Demi Moore also made an appearance.
One notable person who was missing though, was her dad, Eric. Her 70-year-old father shared a statement with Page Six, after he was seen leaving a gym in Los Angeles the next day.
Eric said: “I love my daughter, always have, always will. It is perfectly wonderful for her to celebrate however she wants, with whomever she wants.”
Eric welcomed Emma in 1991 with his former partner Kelly Cunningham, before he later went on to marry casting director Eliza Garrett in 1992.
However, shortly after Emma's birth, he lost custody of her due to past struggles with drug addiction.
He recently addressed his relationship with his daughter on the Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson podcast and dismissed the suggestions that they’re estranged.
When asked if things between the pair are complicated, he responded with: “Not really. It's only complicated through outside eyes because they don't get any of it, so they have their own take, whatever that is."
