Cher speaks out against son Elijah Blue Allman's wife over alleged 'quest for money and fame' in new court filing
Appearing in court this week, Cher argued that the wife of her son, Elijah Blue Allman, isn't an appropriate guardian for him.
Allman has battled severe legal and mental health issues for some time, spurring Cher to file a legal request earlier this year to have him placed under a temporary conservatorship following years of addiction struggles.
She argued at the time that her son is 'gravely disabled', 'has no concept of money', 'is unable to manage his financial resources', and 'is unable to withstand fraud of undue influence', due to his 'severe mental health and addiction issues'.
The 50-year-old is currently in custody in a psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire, facing multiple criminal charges.

On 7 July, the mental health facility initiated a guardianship, after which Cher argued that Allman's half-brothers Chaz Bono and Devon Allman should take over as his guardian.
A 'dispute' subsequently unfolded after King-Allman, 39, asked to be appointed conservator.
In a new supplement brief filed in a Los Angeles court on 28 August, however, Allman's pop star mother argued that Marieangela King-Allman only intends to serve as her husband's guardian in a quest for fame and money, arguing that the pair had previously been in the process of a divorce.
The 80-year-old's court documents were filed by her attorney Justin Gold, and have since been obtained by PEOPLE.
"The New Hampshire State Hospital, and the rest of the family remain adamantly opposed to Mrs. King-Allman serving given her estrangement from Elijah as evidenced by the previously pending divorce, her refusal and failure to assist Elijah and Kayti Pease while he was struggling before he was arrested in New Hampshire, and/or because the family believes that she is inserting herself back into the picture on a quest for money and/or a bit of fame," they read.
Elsewhere, the 'Believe' singer's filing argued: "Mr. Allman’s condition was not unknown to her, as Kayti Pease had repeatedly and often requested that Mrs. King-Allman assist her in providing care for Mr. Allman.
"Mrs. King-Allman never lifted a finger to help, despite the fact that Mr. Allman was supposedly her spouse."
The documents added: "Now that a conservatorship is pending, Mrs. King-Allman clearly sees a financial opportunity to control his income, and she has attempted to seize the opportunity created by his incarceration to try to reinsert herself back into his life."
"Whether Mr. Allman ultimately chooses to be in a relationship with Mrs. King-Allman is a choice he will hopefully be able to make independently, but given her behavior and indifference to his health and living situation over the prior year, she, in no way, should ever be considered as a viable candidate to serve as a court-appointed fiduciary."
Responding to Cher's comments, King-Allman - who married the musician's son in 2013 - told PEOPLE she only has her partner's best interests at heart.
"As Elijah’s wife of 13 years, I love him and want what is best for him, which is a robust and long-term treatment plan," she claimed. "My husband and his mother have been estranged for many years, and she has repeatedly blocked my efforts to get him help."
Speaking of his mother specifically, King-Allman continued: "If she is in control of who becomes conservator, I believe it would jeopardise his chances of a hopeful recovery."
She also alleged that her husband had been similar estranged from his own family, writing: "I strongly believe that Elijah needs a robust, long-term treatment plan to deal with these issues, and appointment of conservator, selected by his mother, from whom he has been estranged for years, wherein her removing his autonomy against his wishes, would demoralise him, thereby jeopardising his recovery."
