Benny Blanco addresses hygiene habits after major backlash for dirty feet

Benny Blanco has shared a glimpse of his hygiene routine after he went viral last month for having dirty feet.

The 37-year-old music producer recently added podcast host to his resume as he launched his latest venture, Friends Keep Secrets, with his celebrity friends and co-hosts Dave Burd aka Lil Dicky, and the rapper's wife, Kristin Batalucco.

Promising to be 'a first-of-its-kind show,' the podcast is different in the sense that it involves 18 hidden cameras being rigged throughout Dave and Kristin's LA home, bringing viewers inside 'an intimate hang with the hosts' real-life friendships and the guests that pop in'.

Their first episode went live on 24 February, and it certainly took off - but not for the reasons Blanco was expecting.

Screenshots of the episode showed the songwriter, who's married to Selena Gomez, lounging on a couch with his feet up, with the soles appearing to be covered in dirt.

As you can imagine, the pictures quickly spread across social media, as did a clip of Blanco farting so that those watching could hear, which fans branded 'diabolical.'

X users wrote: "There’s a difference between funny and gross," and a third added, "Absolutely heinous".

While others over on Reddit agreed, penning, "Omg his feet are way too dirty to be on the couch," and "Dirty feet?! AND on the couch?!?"

The outrage could be what prompted Blanco to talk about his hygiene habits during the latest instalment of the podcast, which featured Ed Sheeran as a special guest.

In the episode that dropped yesterday (10 March), Blanco asked the 25-year-old singer: "Do you shower every day?"

Sheeran replied: "Yeah, sometimes twice a day, mostly twice a day actually," to which the music producer questioned: "Really?"

The 'Shape of You' singer then admitted, "I feel like I'm like you, though I look like I don't smell good. But actually, you're the best-smelling person I know."

Firmly shutting down any speculation over his hygiene, Blanco replied: "I know! I smell good - even if I don't shower."

Then, naturally, talk turned to Lil Dicky's smell, as the rapper said: "People used to say that I have a particular smell. They said it's not good or bad. You have a smell. I found that so unnerving."

However, Blanco brutally responded with: "No, sometimes you stink," before Sheeran was encouraged to sniff both men's belly buttons for comparison. Yes, this really happened.

The singer said Lil Dicky's stank like 'bum hole' while Blanco said his smelt 'of nothing,' just in case you were wondering.

And in the episode before this one, Gomez actually made her debut on the podcast and made quite a point by kissing her husband's feet, further adding fuel to the internet debate.

Who could have predicted that Benny Blanco's feet would be trending for weeks? Not me, but here we are.
