Ben Affleck reveals brutal remarks his own kids have said about him

The actor and director got candid about his personal life

As a huge Hollywood actor, Ben Affleck is more than likely used to a bit of criticism, however, it seems like his toughest critics are his kids.

Affleck shares three kids with his ex-wife and Daredevil co-star, Jennifer Garner, 19-year-old Violet, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13.

It was only the other month that he had to show his son, Samuel, that no matter what you’re worth, six thousand is six thousand.

In the viral TikTok video, the 52-year-old Good Will Hunting star was quick to issue his response when his son decided that he wanted a pair of very expensive collectors kicks, which led to a few on social media praising his parenting.

And it seems that Affleck's blunt approach is something his children seemingly inherited too, as, according to their father, they hold no punches.

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently (24 April), he explained that they are 'very tough' when it comes to his movies.

“They don’t censor their criticism,” he said.

“They’ll sit right next to me watching a movie and while it’s happening [say], ‘This is terrible. I mean, this is terrible. Why did you do this?'”

Specifically, they labelled Armageddon a ‘stupid’ movie when they all sat down to watch the flick during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All the kids were in the house [during quarantine] and I was like, ‘Hey, let’s watch a movie',” he explained. “Almost immediately, it was like, ‘What? What is this? … Are you kidding me?’

“My son was like, 'This doesn’t make sense'.” Affleck added. “[I replied], ‘This is not a logic-based film! That is not one of the criteria we used making this!'”

Ouch.

However, he did say that the kids gave him the green light for his latest project, The Accountant 2, which is out this month.

“I was like, ‘What? You really liked it?’” Affleck said, noting how stunned he was.

“They’re like, ‘Yeah, it was good.’ They were shocked as if I got lucky, like this magical accident happened and something I did was OK!”

Following his divorce from Garner, Affleck rekindled his relationship with his ex-fiancée, Jennifer Lopez, with the two eventually tying the knot in 2022.

However, in 2024, the singer filed for divorce, with court documents citing 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason why.

Since their split, the pair have largely avoided discussions about their relationship, however, Affleck made a rare comment about his ex-wife at the LA premiere of The Accountant 2.
