Amy Schumer has candidly opened up on how she had to lose 50lbs in order to 'survive' not to 'look hot'.
The Trainwreck actress, 44, has been very open about her weight loss and health journey, including taking weight loss medications such as Mounjaro.
She was also diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome, which is a rare hormonal disorder caused by prolonged exposure to high cortisol levels, according to the NHS.
It turns out that taking high doses of steroids can increase your risk of developing the condition and Schumer had been getting steroid injections to help with the scars from her breast reduction and C-section.

The penny dropped and she realised this was the culprit after getting a barrage of social media comments about her 'puffy face'.
Schumer said she 'never have known about' it unless the internet 'hadn't come for her so hard'.

Yesterday (Monday December 1), the 44-year-old posted an Instagram reel filmed by her six-year-old son Gene, whom she shares with husband Chris Fischer.

She included a lengthy paragraph of text over the screen, clarifying exactly why she lost the weight to her followers.
Schumer first clarified that she 'doesn't get Botox or filler' and she 'didn't lose 30lbs,' she lost 50lb.
She elaborated: "Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary. I did it to survive. I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you but the internet caught it and that disease has cleared.
"Sorry for whatever feeling it's giving you that I lost that weight. I've had plastic surgery over the years and I use Mounjaro. Sorry to anyone [this] let's down."

The actress signed off: "I'm pain free. I can [play] tag with my son.
"Happy to share more if anyone has any questions about how I'm looking or feeling or where I am in my perimenopause process."
She went on to address rumours about her marriage.
A source alleged in the Daily Mail last month that Schumer was 'getting divorced', going on to add that Fischer's autism diagnosis (which came after they wed) means he 'doesn't even get her jokes'.

In her Instagram post, Schumer said: "Whatever ends up happening with me and Chris is nothing to do with weight loss or autism fingers crossed we make it through he's the best."
Schumer previously lifted the lid on her Cushing's syndrome diagnosis earlier this year, on an episode of Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast.

She said: "The internet really came for me after doing a bunch of press. And I was like, 'OK everybody relax', but then like doctors were chiming in [within] the comments.

"And they were like, 'no, no we think something's really up, like your face looks so crazy'... I'm like wait, I'm getting trolled by doctors?"
Schumer was eventually diagnosed with Cushing's Syndrome in February 2024.
The actress explained: "I was like f*** off and then I was like wait, I have been getting steroid injections for my scars... I had a breast reduction, a C-section, whatever...
"So, I was getting these steroid injections and so, it gave me this thing called Cushing's syndrome — which I wouldn't have known if the internet hadn't come for me so hard."
Without treatment, Cushing's syndrome can lead to a number of potentially life-threatening complications so it's important to get it checked out if you show any sumptoms.
NHS guidance says: "See a GP if you have symptoms of Cushing's syndrome, especially if you're taking steroids. Do not stop taking your medicine without getting medical advice."
They also noted: "Lots of things can cause similar symptoms to Cushing's syndrome, so it's a good idea to get checked to find out what the problem is."
