Choosing a name for your baby is a monumental task as it's not really something you can change after the deed's been done - or can you?
Well, Amy Schumer did just that when her son Gene was 11 months old, meaning the tot had a different moniker for almost the first whole year of life.
The 44-year-old Trainwreck actress and comedian shares the little one, now five, with her husband Chris Fischer.
Throughout the years, she's been incredibly candid about her motherhood journey, including her health battle with hyperemesis gravidarum while pregnant.

Schumer suffered from the condition, which is a severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, forcing her to be sick in public bathrooms and having to cancel shows.
She wrote on social media at the time: "Everyone who says the second trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows."

The actress added: "Very lucky to be pregnant, but this is some bullsh*t!"

She also previously described her C-section as 'terrifying,' and revealed it took over three hours for her baby to be delivered.
On an episode of the Informed Pregnancy and Parenting Podcast, she said: "I was throwing up through the first hour of my c-section. It’s supposed to take about an hour and a half - mine took over three hours because of my endometriosis and that was really scary.”
And speaking to PEOPLE, she recalled: “It’s all terrifying. Giving birth is the most terrifying thing you’ll ever do that’s completely worth it.
“Having a C-section was … my pregnancy was so hard, I was just very ready to meet my son.”

When the parents eventually did welcome their little boy, they called him Gene Attell Fischer to honour Schumer's friend, Dave Attell, PEOPLE reports.
However, as we say, they had to tweak it around 11 months into his life when they realised it sounded too similar to something else - the word 'genital'.

Say 'Gene Attell' really quickly and you'll unfortunately see where she's coming from.

So, the parents switched out his middle name, making his full name Gene David Fischer - David still works at a nod to Dave Attell and it also honours Schumer's father, whose middle name is David.
During an episode of Amy Schumer Presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith, Schumer shared the news, telling fans: "So do you guys know that Gene, our baby's name, is officially changed?
"It's now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer but we realised that we by accident named our son, 'genital'."
Claudia O'Doherty, Schumer's podcast guest chimed in with: "My mom pointed that out to me actually. My mom was like, 'Amy's called her son genital'. And I was like, 'What are you talking about?' And then, she was right."

At the time, she also made light of the situation by posting a photo with her husband to Instagram, alongside the caption: "Oh, like you never named your kid Genital fissure!!!!!!!"
