This Country has been a roaring success since it first burst onto our screens in 2017 - so naturally we were buzzing to hear that it's returning next year for a much-anticipated third season.

So, what can we expect from the next instalment? This is everything we know so far...

What is This Country about?

The rib-tickling mockumentary chronicles the lives of cousins Kerry and Lee 'Kurtan' Mucklowe, who live rural Britain.

The BBC Three show focuses on social etiquette (or lack of), their ridiculous behaviour, silly jokes and how bored the two teens get living in the countryside.

The first two series were runaway success' with over four million views on BBC iPlayer views, plus several BAFTA awards under its belt.

What happened in This Country Season 2?

Kerry was last seen visiting the police station after being accused of hoarding stolen vacuum cleaners. Fans have been left on edge ever since as to whether she would own up to the crime or would her dad Martin take the fall.

Series two ended back in April 2018, although we were treated to a one-off special in October last year too, but it's been over a year since we've seen these characters on our screens - so thank god we don't have to wait much longer.

Will all the key cast members return for This Country Season 3?

Real-life siblings Charlie Cooper and Daisy May Weston (nee Cooper), who also write the comedy, will be back to reprise their roles; Kerry and Lee Mucklowe.

The latest instalment is expected to include all of the comedy's supporting characters; Martin, Reverend Francis Seaton and aspiring tattoo artist and bodyguard, Mandy Harris.

One familiar face that will be missing however is Michael Sleggs, who played a character inspired by himself called Michael 'Slugs' Slugette.

The 33-year-old actor died earlier this year following heart complications. He starred in seven episodes of the series, making his final appearance in the 2018 special This Country: The Aftermath.

What plot details do we know about This Country Season 3?

Not much is known about the storyline for season 3 yet - although Charlie and Daisy May have revealed that there will be a tribute to their late co-star Michael Sleggs.

The comedy duo told the RadioTimes.com they have something special planned for the opening episode of the upcoming series.

Speaking to the publication, Daisy May said: "[Making a tribute to Sleggs] was really important to us.

"And Michael was adamant that he wanted to be in the first episode, and he wanted it to be funny. So, with the help of his family, we tried to make a fitting tribute."

Charlie added: "In proper Slugs fashion, though."

When will This Country Season 3 return to our screens?

It was announced this month that the beloved comedy will to return to screens in February 2020 - with what we expect is six new episodes.

Show director Tom George recently shared a picture on Twitter of an editing suite showing still images of Lee and his cousin Kerry on screens with the caption: "Editing done on This Country Series 3. Out February next year."

Although we don't have an official air date at least we know it's back sooner rather than later.
