There's Been Discussions For A 'Gossip Girl' Reboot, XOXO

There has been "discussions" for a reboot of Gossip Girl, The CW's president has confirmed.

Channel exec Mark Pedowitz told reporters at CW's portion of the TV Critics' Association press tour on Thursday that there had been talks about rebooting Gossip Girl for another series.

"There's been discussions. But I don't know if we're there yet." Pedowitz said. "I don't know what it would be."

But it all comes down to whether screenwriters Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage want to make it happen. "[Because] you don't want to do anything without them," added Mark.

Back in 2016, Schwartz told E! News of a Gossip Girl reboot: "We haven't really explored some of those conversations.

"Maybe, I don't know. We haven't really thought about it."

However, she did acknowledge the influencer culture currently invading our lives. "The world has become Gossip Girl now. ... Now literally everyone is Gossip Girl," she added.

Kristen Bell narrated the series which followed the drama-fuelled lives of a group of privileged upper-class teenagers living in Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Here's Netflix's savage series synopsis to refresh your memory: "Rich, unreasonably attractive private school students [who] do horrible, scandalous things to each other. Repeatedly."

Gossip Girl alum haven't touched base on this reboot news, so it's unclear whether they're giving it the thumbs up.

The New York Times described the series as "one of the biggest influences on how young women spend" in 2008 down to the character's always stylish ensembles.
