But luckily, Penn was more than ready to shut down fans on Twitter who seemed to forget that he is quite literally a murderer.
In a series of tweets, Penn reminded fans one by one that Joe is far from desirable as he replied to their commentary on the series.
One fan wrote: "Kidnap me pls," to which Penn simply replied: "No thx." Another fan asked: "Said this already but @PennBadgley is breaking my heart once again as Joe. What is it about him?" The actor quickly responded: "A: He is a murderer."

For anyone who hasn't binge-watched You on Netflix yet, it follows the life of Joe Goldberg, a book store manager in New York, who meets a woman called Beck, before deciding to stalk her.
If this wasn't bad enough, Joe spends the entire series proving the lengths he's willing to go to, just to be in her life.
A second series of the psychological thriller has already been confirmed, and it's set to be based on the sequel novel, Hidden Bodies.
