If you are counting down the minutes till the Gavin And Stacey Christmas special, you need to watch The Graham Norton Show tonight, because Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon, AKA Nessa and Uncle Bryn, will give some fascinating insights into the show.

Most interestingly, Ruth explained that's she feels empowered when she plays the iconic character.

"I feel very empowered when I am her because she doesn't care, she is very confident, she wears clothes I would never ever wear, and she is quite masculine - a very alpha female," Ruth tells Graham in scenes to be aired on Friday night. "As Nessa I can be as rude as I like!"

Ruth also revealed that when creating the one-off episode, she, along with co-creator James Corden, had considered an unexpected twist such as Gavin having an affair - or Gavin and Stacey getting divorced.

"We were keen to keep the warmth that was always there," Ruth says on the show. "You think about some spectacular story lines and we toyed with the idea of Gavin having an affair, or Gavin and Stacy divorcing, but we really wanted to hold on to the heart of the original show and I hope we've done it.

"We had to keep it a secret for such a long time so the joy of being able to announce it was incredible."

Rob added that filming the Christmas special was an incredibly special time. "Getting everyone together was amazing," he says in the episode. "I was sure it wouldn't happen because there was literally a two-week window.

"But we did and it was so lovely and so emotional. I'd seen pretty much everyone over the years, but not all together. It was the happiest job I have ever done."

Other stars appearing on The Graham Norton Show last week included Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, The Witcher star Henry Cavill and singer Robbie Williams.
