It's the TV show we've all been waiting - the Gavin & Stacey Christmas Special airs on 25th December.

At precisely 8.30pm on Christmas day, after we've eaten our turkey and drank our way through the supply of champagne, it'll be time to sit down to find out what's happened to our favourite Barry Island characters.

It's been a while since we've checked in with Gavin and Stacey and their extended families, and we for one can't wait to discover what they've been up to in the past ten years since the show last aired.

The series, which ran on the BBC from 2007 to 2010, focused on main characters Gavin (Mathew Horne) from Essex and Stacey (Joanna Page) from Wales, who met and married over the course of the show's three seasons.

Since the trailer dropped at the start month, it's created a hype among fans and it's not hard to see why.

In the trailer, we're reacquainted with all our favourite characters, from Stacey's Mum Gwen (Melanie Walters) and Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) to her best friend Nessa (Ruth Jones).

We're also reintroduced to Gavin's parents Mick (Larry Lamb) and Pam (Alison Steadman) and friend Smithy (James Corden).

The trailer starts with Gavin greeting Smithy who then replies with a rendition of 'Step Into Christmas', with Pam and Mick joining in with the dance.

We then follow the family to Wales where it looks like they're going to spend Christmas together, with Uncle Bryn struggling to cook the Christmas dinner.

Meanwhile, some eagle-eyed viewers also think they've spotted Gavin and Stacey's child in the minute-long trailer.

In one clip, we see a child of around the same age as the couple's child would be now, running to hug Pam.

In the final episode of season three, Stacey revealed she was pregnant so could this be the couple's child after all, or could it be Nessa and Smithy's 'Neil the baby' instead? We'll certainly find out soon.

Earlier this month, writer Ruth Jones who also plays Nessa on the show, said she couldn't rule out anymore special episodes or seasons in the future.

And actor Mathew Horne also revealed that he would love to play Gavin again.

He told PA: "Considering the experience I had back in August, filming it, I would love to get together again with everybody because, it sounds really trite, but it was just like putting on a pair of slippers and sitting with your family.

"It was just delightful, so of course I would love to do more, but it's not really up to me."

Does that mean we could be in for more of Gavin and Stacey and their families after this episode? We certainly hope so!
