ITV has been on top of their true-crime game this year, with must-see programmes such as White House Farm and Des drawing us in, and in our millions.

So it's little surprise the TV channel is pulling off a hat-trick this year, with the upcoming The Pembrokeshire Murders looking equally unmissable.

Welsh actor and Hollywood star Luke Evans will take the lead as Senior Investigating Officer Steve Wilkins as he looks to reopen two unsolved double murders.

And judging by the first look pictures, it looks set to be a brooding and harrowing watch, with the Pembrokeshire Coast the idyllic backdrop of some harrowing crimes.

The synopsis for the upcoming three-part series reads: "Two unsolved double murders from the 1980s cast a shadow over the work of the Dyfed Powys police force. In 2006, newly promoted Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins decided to reopen both cases.

"Employing pioneering forensic methods, Wilkins and his handpicked team found microscopic DNA and fibres that potentially linked the murders to a string of burglaries committed in the 80s and 90s.

"The perpetrator of those robberies was nearing the end of his prison sentence, but if Steve Wilkins was right, he was also a serial killer ... Could Steve and his team find enough forensic evidence to charge their suspect before he was released to potentially kill again?

The reopened murder investigation attracted significant media interest at the time, after it came to light that the suspect appeared on classic game show Bullseye in 1989 - which then became a crucial element in his identification.

In other true-crime news, ITV have also confirmed they will be making a sequel to hugely popular 2019 series Manhunt.

Manhunt II: The Nightstalker stars Martin Clunes once again reprising his role as DCI Collin Sutton in his pursuit of notorious serial rapist, Delroy Grant.

As well as Milly Dowler murderer Levi Bellfield - who was the centre of the last Manhunt series - Brockley resident Grant was one of DCI Sutton's biggest and most world renowned cases.
