ITV is officially bringing us a sequel to Manhunt, which is set to star Martin Clunes.

Called Manhunt II: The Night Stalker, the four part TV drama will once again feature Clunes as the former London Metropolitan Police detective, DCI Colin Sutton.

And the series will follow the real life story of his pursuit of notorious serial rapist, Delroy Grant, who terrorised thousands of poor, vulnerable old people in south east London for 17 years in a reign of terror.

As well as Milly Dowler murderer Levi Bellfield - who was the centre of the last Manhunt series - Brockley resident Grant was one of DCI Sutton's biggest and most world renowned cases.

Grant is a Jamaican convicted rapist known as the Night Stalker, who is famed for having burgled, raped and sexually assaulted a whole string of mostly old people between October 1992 and May 2009, going undetected for almost two decades, and targeting hundreds of victims.

He was eventually caught after police launched the dedicated Operation Minstead team to track him down, which was run out of Lewisham police station.

The first series of Manhunt drew in an average audience of nine million viewers, and was the highest rated new drama on any channel back in 2019.

And fans were absolutely gripped seeing the well-known Bus Stop Killer Bellfield case brought to life.

Manhunt II The Night Stalker is written by Ed Whitmore (Silent Witness, Rillington Place, Strike Back), who also wrote the first series the show.

The series is produced by Buffalo Pictures, with executive producer Philippa Braithwaite at its helm, and producers Jo Willett and Evie Bergson-Korn working alongside her.

Marc Evans is taking the director's seat, while the stories are taken from the diaries of Colin Sutton and Ed Whitmore, who is also an executive producer.

This is sure to be a gripping watch.
