If, like us, you're a certified armchair detective who loves solving a true crime case over their third bowl of Coco Pops, then you'll be happy to hear that more episodes of Unsolved Mysteries are on the way.

Fans of the show will know that the series, which launched 1st July 2020, is a Netflix reboot of the original series hosted by the late Robert Stack.

Created by Terry Dunn Meurer, the series delves into a new mystery each episode, ranging from missing person cases to UFO sightings and family tragedies.

The first six episodes featured cases like the unexplained death of Rey Rivera (could he really have fallen through that hole in the roof of the Belvedere Hotel in Batimore?) and the mysterious disappearance and murder of hairdresser Patrice Endres in Cummings, Georgia.

Following the release of the first six episodes, show creators saw a surge in tip-offs from viewers.

Meurer claims that the team received over 1500 tips, with around 50 flagged as possible leads and passed on to law enforcement agencies.

If you've already binge-watched the first six mysteries, we have good news.

In an interview with Decider, a rep for the show confirmed that season one actually consists of 12 episodes in total.

Which means that, while half a dozen episodes dropped in July, the remaining six will air later this year - so there's more armchair detective work to be done.

As yet, we don't have a release date for the next six episodes - but we'll update you as soon as we know more.

We know what you're thinking: is there going to be a season two?

Well, going by an interview Meurer gave to Entertainment Weekly, there could well be.

The show creator said: "I'm hoping we'll be chatting with Netflix about a season two, but we haven't yet.

"We already have some cases in mind if we do! We have a database of hundreds of stories that have come in through the years.

"Unfortunately, there are a lot of unsolved mysteries out there that we wish we could get exposure to all of them. It's so gratifying when we're able to bring people closure and our wish it to do this for more of them. That's the dream."
