We may still have a while to wait before we get to see Disney's hotly anticipated Hocus Pocus sequel, but it looks as if the follow-up to the 1993 classic film will still have all the magic of the original.

Bette Midler, who played Winnie Sanderson in the family favourite, confirmed both she and her co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah Sanderson) and Kathy Najimy (Mary Sanderson) will be returning as the spooky sisters for a second time.

Speaking to Fox 5 New York, the 74-year-old said: "They want to make a movie, they've asked us if we were interested and of course all of us said yes.

"I'm game, I'm totally game."

The trio have previously suited up to raise money for the New York Restoration Project, where they dressed up as the Sanderson sisters once more in the virtual event In Search of the Sanderson Sisters.

And the charity get-together seemed to only reinforce the bond between the cast, with Midler comparing their work to being like a girls' weekend.

"It was so bizarre to have been these characters 27 years ago," she explained. "And to put all that gear on ... it was so bizarre because we fell into exactly the same relationships we had and the same style of behaving on screen that we had 27 years ago. As if we had been off for a weekend!"

The Hocus Pocus sequel, titled Hocus Pocus 2 will be directed by Adam Shankman. Some of his biggest films to date include Hairspray and Enchanted.

Plot details around the follow-up film are sketchy, but the first film sees three witches executed in 1693 when the people of Salem capture them for practising witchcraft.

However, 300 years later, the three witches are brought back to life after a sceptic lights the Candle of the Black Flame, seeing the three sisters wreak havoc on the town.

We can't wait to see what they all get up to in the sequel...
