After months of speculation over Big Brother's future, Channel 5 boss Ben Frow has confirmed that the show's time on the channel could be coming to an end.

He told audiences at the 2018 Edinburgh TV Festival that the current series of the reality show could be the last, as the current contract runs out at Christmas.

"I have planned for a year without Big Brother. But never say never. The contract runs out at Christmas," he told them.

The current Celebrity Big Brother is reported to be the most expensive series so far, yet opened to just 2 million viewers last Thursday, seeing a 100,000 drop from the last CBB launch in January.

Despite an impressive line-up that boasts the likes of former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas, Kirstie Alley and the human Ken doll, Rodrigo Alves, ratings have continued to drop while complaints to Ofcom have continued to increase, with more than 1,000 reached in just three days.

According to people who attended the TV festival, Ben was said to be 'absolutely furious' that Stormy Daniels pulled out at the last minute.

The former porn star was even at the Elstree studio getting ready to enter the infamous house when an unexpected complication arose with her ongoing custody battle.

Stormy appeared on Loose Women to defend her side of the story after she was accused of pulling out of the show because she wanted more money.

She told the panel: "Full disclosure. I didn't really know what I was getting into. I was offered a lot of money. It was just crazy.

"I told the truth to the producers that I was uncomfortable spending the night in the house. Being a mom comes first and I wanted to be able to talk to her."

Celebrity Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on Channel 5.
