Catfish is officially returning with a UK series, and the show is currently looking for applicants.

Yep, if you've got an online romance or friendship that you're a little suspicious of, you can now recruit the show to help you do some detective work.

(Although, we'll give you a heads up, if you think you're talking to Katy Perry you're almost definitely not.)

Catfish: The TV Show has been a hit in the states since 2012, originally hosted by Nev Shulman, 35, and his film-maker pal Max Joseph, 38, who hunted down people's internet beau's and virtual pals to see if they were really who they said they were.

The show came about after Nev's own experiences being Catfished, which he exposed to the world in his 2010 indie film of the same name.

We don't yet know who will be hosting the UK version of the show, and whether Nev will jet over-seas.

However, one thing is for sure, if the UK spin-off ends up with the same track record of the American series, you're guaranteed some pretty speedy answers to all your questions about your online beau - whether it's what you want to hear or not...

Advertising the upcoming series, and putting out a plea for guests, the UK production company, Viacom Studios UK, said: "Whether you want to finally meet your online love or friend face-to-face, have something to confess or simply want to get to the bottom of why they always cancel dates, MTV's Catfish UK would love to hear from you."

The only pre-requisite for taking part is that you're 18-years-old or over, and happy to air your dirty laundry on screen (sexts and all) for everybody to see, in the hope of finding The One.

You can find out more by contact the Catfish Casting Team on 07743 001261. You can also email [email protected] or fill in their short application form here.

Catfish UK has been in the works in the past, too, only to be dropped at the last minute. So, fans will be happy that it's finally back on the cards.

Back in 2016, there were plans for a UK version of the show, where fake love interests came clean and revealed themselves from the offset - in a change to the original format.

However, this was scrapped not long afterwards, and never made it to screens.

Over the years, Nev has also been joined on the show by a selection of guest hosts, including singer Elle King, basketball player Nick Young, actress Kimiko Glenn, model Slick Woods. Nev currently presents the show in the States alongside Kamie Crawford.

Catfish: The TV Show has seen a few happy endings, but it's also seen some rather disastrous twists - from 'relationship vigilante' Justin, who went around Catfishing people to expose cheaters, to Dee, who was pretending to be rapper Bow Wow so she could flirt online with Keyonnah.

But don't let these horror stories deter you reaching out. If you've got an online lover you need to track down, there's no time like the present!
