Vogue Williams had ‘never seen’ Spencer so ‘genuinely upset’ until he wasn’t invited to Jamie Laing’s wedding

Vogue Williams and Spencer Matthews clear the air about why they didn't attend Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo's wedding.

When Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthew and his wife, Vogue Matthews, didn’t attend the wedding of best pal, Jamie Laing, fans thought that something behind the scenes had triggered this snub.

Thankfully, there's a simple explanation for the wedding mishap.

Jamie, 34, recently tied the knot with long-term girlfriend and co-star Sophie Habboo (Habbs), in a small ceremony in London – but keen eyes quickly noticed that Spencer and Vogue were nowhere to be seen on the special day.

Best friend Spencer, 34, received massive backlash after fans accused him and his wife Vogue, 37, of snubbing the event.

But it turns out that Jamie hadn’t invited Spencer to the legal ceremony in London, but had instead invited him to the second wedding in Spain in the summer.

Since the backlash, Spencer and Vogue now must defend themselves against criticism that they went on holiday in Portugal on the same weekend as the first wedding, even though they claim that they didn’t know it was happening at that time.

Vogue Williams went on to confess that she had never seen her husband so upset until he’d discovered that he had not been invited to his best friend’s wedding.

While the online trolls were out in full form, Spencer admitted that he was 'heartbroken' to not have been invited, but Jamie explained that it was a 'simple mistake'.

After the Made In Chelsea alum went on a recent episode of Jamie’s podcast, ‘Newlyweds’, the air was finally cleared.

Both couples were able to address the recent chaos surrounding the big day and how the mix up happened.

During an honest chat, Vogue admitted that she had never seen her partner more upset than he was over the mix up and the backlash that followed.

She said: "He was very upset, I have to be honest, I've never seen him like that.”

"He was genuinely upset over something and then I was getting things coming out, I saw the personalised stuff. And I thought 'Oh s**t you really thought about this.'"

Thankfully, Jamie was finally able to give his side of the story on how he forgot to invite the pair to his wedding with Sophie.

Jamie shared: "I f****d up. We had our wedding, our civil ceremony in the UK. It was a hectic process. Amongst the hectic-ness of getting people there and things like that, I thought Spencer and Vogue were away.”

Jamie then went on to further explain that Sophie had asked if Spencer and Vogue were coming to their big day, to which Jamie replied that he didn’t send out an invitation because he knew they would be in Portugal on their family holiday.

Thankfully, Spencer and Jamie seem to be on good terms following the 'misunderstanding'.

The podcast host said: "Soph said, 'Are they coming?' and I said, 'No, they're in Portugal', and I didn't send out an invite to you guys for you guys to come.”

When speaking on her joint podcast with her husband, she revealed that work commitments meant she won't be able to attend their second wedding.

She explained: "I'm raging because I can't actually go to the wedding, and it's not my fault. My manager messed up my schedule and I actually have a show on the day of Jamie's wedding."
