Teen Mom 2 star Taylor Lewis has died at the age of 29.

Lewis, from North Carolina, appeared on the hit reality show back in 2014 when her ex-best friend Jenelle Evans told her about her pregnancy.

While the pair 'had gone their separate ways' at the time of Lewis' death on 5 January, the cause of which is 'still unknown', Evans paid tribute to her on social media.

Jenelle confided to Taylor about her pregnancy on Teen Mom 2.

Alongside a photo montage of the pair, she wrote on Friday (6 January): "Taylor what happened?!

"We were once best friends and we went our separate ways because of the diff crowds we chose to hang out with.

"I wanted to see you eventually flourish as a woman from a distance but was always rooting for you.

"I don't know what happened but I am very saddened to hear this news and hope you're resting easy. I'm so sorry and sending your family prayers."

Evans then expressed regret for not 'answering' a message from Lewis in March of last year, but explained that she did not reply as she felt like she 'wasn’t doing her best'.

Lewis's sister, Haylee, confirmed her sister's passing and opened up about what is known about the circumstances surrounding the 29-year-old's death.

She told InTouch: "I've been speaking with detectives too, and they are saying they saw footage of two men with Taylor in the hotel room."

Haylee said that her sister was discovered 'hours later' by a housekeeper.

She also added that detectives are investigating a 'possible homicide'.

Evans and Lewis's complicated relationship was touched upon in Teen Mom 2. This is because Lewis was the first wife of Evans' ex-husband, Courtland Rogers.

Rogers and Evans married in December 2012 but split just one month later.

It was then that Evans turned to Lewis, telling her that she was pregnant with their mutual ex's baby in the premiere of season five of the show.

"I did relapse [on heroin] one time and that was when I met Courtland," Evans admitted.

"Me and him, we got married only after three months of dating. I'm so mad at myself for marrying someone that I didn't think through.

"I went to the doctor the other day 'cause I was sick," she said on the show. "And they were like, 'We can’t give you a chest X-ray because you're pregnant'."

The reality star ultimately decided to terminate the pregnancy.
