Sydney Sweeney admits she struggled to get roles after playing Cassie in Euphoria

Sydney Sweeney admits she struggled to get roles after playing Cassie in Euphoria

Whilst it's hard to imagine anyone else playing Cassie, Sydney Sweeney admits the role has nearly cost her other acting gigs

It may have been the part that made her famous, but Sydney Sweeney has admitted she struggled to get roles after playing Cassie Howard.

The Euphoria actor even revealed that her part in the teen drama nearly stopped her from getting cast in The White Lotus.

Unfortunately, Sweeney’s HBO role has become so iconic that she said she’s had to ‘fight’ for new parts.

Sydney revealed she's struggled to get cast after appearing in Euphoria.

It’s caused problems for the 25-year-old too, with Sydney revealing she’d been desperate to take some time off but couldn’t afford to.

"If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don't have income to cover that. I don't have someone supporting me, I don't have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

"They don't pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals,” she added.

“The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month, and that's more than my mortgage."

Despite her success on Euphoria and recent casting in Madame Web, Sydney has found the reality of being an A-Lister very different from what she expected.

The actor also admitted that she had to fight for her White Lotus role.

In another interview with Variety, the star also spoke about her struggle to get cast after appearing in the iconic teen drama.

"There's always people who see me as Cassie or see me as Olivia. They send me scripts that are just like that," she admitted.

However, the actor is determined not to become typecast and has tried to find roles that are the polar opposite of her previous characters.

Sadly though, it’s not been easy for Sweeney as she explained: "It's the ones I have to fight for that usually are the ones that I want that are different, like 'Reality.' I had to audition for it. I had to put myself on tape and send in my audition just like everybody else."

This even happened when she wanted to appear in HBO’s White Lotus, with the actor having to go the extra mile to land the role.

“It was the same for 'White Lotus.' They didn't think that I was right for 'White Lotus,' because I did 'Euphoria,'” she revealed, “So I put myself on tape, I auditioned for 'White Lotus' just like everybody else and had a call back like everybody else."

Well, we can’t wait to see what Sydney does next.
