Selena Gomez has decided to end her social media break to praise Lizzo for a recent TikTok video.

Selena, 30, shared the news of her imminent departure from the internet in a TikTok Live video last week (23 February), just after she achieved the status of the most-followed woman on Instagram.

However, the singer decided to break her silence after just under a week of being off the grid to praise the Lizzo for a recent post that has since gone viral online.

Selena first went offline after after defending bestie Taylor Swift over a post where Hailey Bieber appeared to criticise her.

She told fans: "I'm going to be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly. I'm 30 and am too old for this.

"But I love you so much and I'll see you guys sooner than later. I'm just gonna take a break from everything."

And Selena's re-emergence on social media was most definitely 'sooner than later'.

Taking to TikTok yesterday (2 March), Lizzo uploaded a video captioned: "Milan y’all ready?" accompanied with a blue-haired emoji.

"I’ve got some blue going on!"

In the short clip, the singer can be seen with a fresh new head of electric blue highlights as she mouths along to a particularly iconic Teen Vogue reference that's been making its rounds on the platform recently.

The sound clip dates back to a much younger Selena being interviewed about her look for a 2007 Teen Vogue party.

In the interview, Selena talks about the new blue streak in her hair in a typical Selena fashion.

"I’ve got some blue going on!" she says with adorable enthusiasm.

"I like a little edge, a little pop in my hair, so I wanted to add something different, especially for the Teen Vogue party," she explains in an animated fashion.

The short clip - obviously - was ideal for the TikTok treatment leaving many to recreate the now 16 year old interview themselves.

And Grammy-award-winning singer, Lizzo, was clearly of no exception.

The TikTok has since been watched over 1,200,000 times with nearly 300,000 people hitting like on the iconic crossover between the two artists.

Many fans were quick to comment that Lizzo's video was proof of her being 'Team Selena' in the recent celebrity drama that has taken place between Selena and Kylie Jenner, 25.

Claims had been made that Selena was 'mocked' by Kylie for a particularly controversial eyebrow lamination procedure last Tuesday (21 February).

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star's follower count on Instagram dropped by almost one million after she was accused of poking fun out of Selena's brows.

However, Selena's follower count totally skyrocketed after the scandal as she gained almost 10 million new followers on the photo-sharing platform.

Fans were quick to flood Lizzo's comment section with an avalanche of support for Selena.

One TikTok user wrote: "I knew you were team Selena."

"I knew Lizzo was a real one!!!" posted another.

A third added: "Yess! Selena supporters everywhere."

And it wasn't just fans who flocked to the comment section to share their praise for Lizzo.

Selena herself broke her detox from social media and commented a blue heart under the video - referencing the blue hair streaks to which Lizzo then responded with a kiss emoji.

Whether Selena will go back to her hiatus or whether she's back online for good now - it's fair to say that fans were thrilled to see the duo team up together.
