"Someone smashed it, got all the stuff. Thankfully left my child seat there. Taken quite a few things.

"And I feel really bad because people were coming up and I just couldn't talk to them, I said I had to go because of what's happened."

In the caption, Peter, 49, added: "So this happened last night :(((.

"Sorry to all those that were coming up after the show and I couldn’t really talk and had to go. @greasewestend.

"I know things could be a lot worse and there are bigger problems in the world but it’s still sad. And thankfully no one was hurt. Thankfully only material things."

While another added: "What an awful shock. Sending hugs."

And a third commented: "Ah Pete, so so sorry to see this. Whatever is going on in the world this is personal to you to you're allowed to feel upset and angry. Absolutely scum of the earth. I hope there weren't any sentimental items stolen. Sending lots of love, I am sure the fans understand and if not, shame on them. Hugs."

Another added: "It’s awful I had all my belongings taken from my car and it just makes you feel violated. Hope you’re ok."

Peter - who is currently starring as Vince Fontaine in Grease at the Dominion Theatre in London - has sadly spoken about being the victim of a burglary before.

Writing in New magazine last year about an incident that happened in Australia, he said: "Our home was broken into three times in one night by the same people while we were asleep.

"They took jewellery and it was horrifying. You want to feel safe in your own home.

"Knowing someone has been in it, with an intent to take your things, and the fear of them possibly wanting to do worse, is horrible."
