Just hours after Keke Palmer announced she had given birth to a baby boy, she had to defend her son's name against critics.

We certainly live in an unfortunate social media world where trolls can continue to be present and thrive in an online space.

Trolls always seem to emerge when celebrities announce the name of their newborns - think Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury with their daughter Bambi in recent times.

And the latest to be targeted for the name she has chosen for her baby is Keke Palmer.

On Monday (27 February), Keke debuted little Leodis Andrelton Jackson to the world, but a Twitter user quickly poked fun at the name her and boyfriend Darius Jackson decided for their son.

“That name sound like it led a civil rights march,” the tweet read.

But while most celebs will ignore trolls that target them online, Keke decided to reply and quite simply owned it.

The actress said: "It’s giving I marched with Martin [Luther King Jr.], purrrr."

Keke Palmer responded to trolls on social media.

Keke has been praised on social media for her response and the name she has given her son.

"Purrrr. Very iconiclly legendary name if you ask me!" one person wrote.

A second added: "You are easily one of the funniest ppl to ever grace this earth."

Meanwhile, a third remarked: "This is why we love you Keke."

To announce the wonderful news, Keke put together a gallery of what the past 48 hours of her life have looked like.

"Hey Son!!!!" she began the post, before talking her followers through each slide.

The first snap was a photo of a very tired-looking Keke and Darius, with the Nope star captioning: "Only 48hrs of being parents!"

The actress welcomed her first child over the weekend.

Next, she shared a video of herself singing El Debarge's 'Someone' in the car while Darius drove and their son slept in the backseat.

She captioned it: "Darius always made me playlists when we first started dating, 'Someone' by El Debarge was a favourite. We became each other’s someone and made a someone, look at God!"

As the slides went on, Keke shared some close-ups of her baby's face, much to fans' delight.

Concluding the adorable post, and revealing her son's name, she wrote: "Born during Black History Month, with a name to match! LEODIS ANDRELLTON JACKSON, welcome to the world baby Leo."
