Holly Willoughby gets called a ‘perv’ on TV in bizarre moment

The presenter just wanted to talk about dancing when she was hit with the comment

Dancing On Ice host Holly Willoughby was left trying to defend herself after The Wanted's Jay McGuinness called her a 'perv' on live TV.

The left-field comment certainly left audience members stunned:

Willoughby returned to our screens looking as glamorous as ever on Sunday (19 February) as a host of celebrities once again grabbed their ice skates and dancing partners ready to wow the judges.

Joey Essex, Mollie Gallagher and Carley Stenson are among the stars twirling on our screens in this series, but it was The Wanted's Siva Kaneswaran who Willoughby wanted to talk about when she approached his bandmate McGuinness in the crowd.

McGuinness was there to support Kaneswaran, so Willoughby questioned him on Kaneswaran's ability to dance despite his repeated claims that he wasn't any good.

"He keeps saying he can't dance but we all saw those hips tonight," Willoughby said.

It's a pretty mundane comment for a dancing show, where literally all of the focus is on how the contestants move their bodies, but McGuinness indicated that Willoughby was being inappropriate as he responded: "You perv."

The comment left Willoughby stumbling to try and defend herself as she quickly argued 'well, you know, they were there' before McGuinness continued on with his thoughts, but viewers at home weren't so quick to try and move on.

Those watching at home took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the awkward interaction, with one commenting: "Yikes I don’t think that ‘perv’ comment towards Holly went down too well. Awkward. Weird."

Another wrote, "did Holly Willoughby just get called a perv live on television??? Ouch," while a third added: "Holly not too impressed at being called a perv by Jay McGuinness, and rightly so! He was well out of order."

Both Willoughby and McGuinness swiftly moved on to talk more about Kaneswaran's skills, and fans praised the presenter for the way she handled the situation.

One commented: "She did well to ignore it didn't she."

McGuinness went on to say it was 'intimidating' whenever anyone has to get out in front of a crowd and move their body, but assured Kaneswaran is a 'big, gorgeous, handsome, good boy' who is doing 'so good' on the show.

The Wanted singer only just avoided being sent home this weekend as he found himself in the skate-off alongside Darren Harriett, but the judges ultimately voted in his favour and decided to eliminate Harriet instead.
