Elliot Page has shared a new passport photo with fans following his gender confirmation surgery.

The Umbrella Academy actor marked a milestone in his transgender journey with his new ID photo, which he revealed on Instagram with the caption: “Never thought I’d love a passport photo".

The 34-year-old actor looked smart in a black T-shirt and silver chain, although he was unable to smile in the picture due to passport picture rules.

Fans of the star took to the comments section to share their happiness with Elliot, with many fellow celebrities expressing their support, including record producer Lauren Flax and Spanish actor Javier Calvo.

“Yes please sir,” wrote another social media user.

“That’s a keeper,” someone else added.

“Loving how you’ve threaded this transformation into the Umbrella Academy. Well done,” someone commented.

In season three of Elliot’s well-known Netflix series, his character Viktor Hargreaves (previously known as Vanya) also came out as transgender following Elliot's own experience.

After the series debuted last month, many fans praised the programme for its on-screen positive example of trans representation.

The actor said in the note that "the statistics are staggering", and "discrimination towards trans people is rife, insidious, and cruel, resulting in horrific consequences".

Despite this, he explained how he "loves being trans" and "being queer".

He then ended the letter with his new name: "All my love, Elliot."

Meanwhile, friends and fans of the star shared their support for him after he revealed a topless photo following gender confirmation surgery, or “top” surgery, which was carried out a year before.

“Omg you look so great,” wrote another.

“Damn I have a crush on you now lmao,” said someone else.

Another fan said: “One of the most beautiful photos I have ever witnessed. Thank you, Elliot.”

According to the NHS, common chest procedures for transgender men can include the removal of both breasts (bilateral mastectomy) and chest reconstruction including nipple repositioning and a dermal implant and tattoo.

If you’ve been affected by any of these issues and want to speak to someone in confidence, contact Mindline Trans+ on 0300 330 5468. The line is open 8pm–midnight Mondays and Fridays and is run by trans volunteers.
