Despite being a Grammy-award-winning artist, Doja Cat is, um, less than impressed with her recent music.

The ‘Say So’ singer has admitted that her last two albums were ‘cash-grabs’ which people ‘fell for’, in a pointed tweet.

Fans haven’t taken kindly to the news either, with many slamming the rapper as they react angrily in the comments.

Ironically, her last two albums made Doja Cat, who is really called Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, a household name.

During the pandemic, her album Hot Pink seemed to strike a chord with fans as several songs went viral on TikTok, including ‘Say so’ and ‘Streets’.

Other viral tracks included 'Juicy' and ‘Like That’, with the 2019 album peaking at number nine in the Billboard 200 in 2020.

Just a year later, Doja Cat would release her third album Planet Her to a stratospheric reception, with the single ‘Kiss Me More’ winning the Grammy for Best Pop Duo.

Despite her commercial and critical success though, the rapper has no kind words for her recent releases.

“...planet her and hot pink were cash-grabs and yall fell for it,” Doja wrote on Twitter, in a savage takedown of her music.

The May 10 tweet continued, with the singer telling fans: “now i can go disappear somewhere and touch grass with my loved ones on an island while yall weep for mediocre pop.”

Understandably, fans reacted angrily to the idea that they’d been duped with the tweet quickly gaining over 23.9 million views on the social media platform.

One annoyed user wrote :“ I'm glad you found your peace on the island. Meanwhile, we'll be enjoying great music and not missing your negativity on Twitter.” (Ouch!)

Others soon followed though, with another former fan adding: “Ok girl bye let me enjoy my mediocre bops from Planet Her and you be well.”

Though Tuesday’s intense tweet has caused controversy, some fans have seen the funny side.

Doja Cat has been notorious for her often out-there, dry sense of humour on the site.

When asked about her next album, the star previously told fans it would be a ‘French conceptual experimental’ fusion with ‘essence of blue-grass’ (yes, really).

Because of this, some of her followers aren’t taking her latest tweet too seriously, with one fan writing: “well drop some more cash-grabs so I can fall for it again before u leave to that island.”

Well, if you can’t say anything nice – we guess.
