Bradley Cooper shares heartwarming reason he still lives with his mum

The actor has been living with his mother since 2011

He may be a leading man in Hollywood, but Bradley Cooper hasn’t moved away from his mum for a heart-warming reason.

After his father Charles was diagnosed with an aggressive form of lung cancer, the Silver Linings Playbook actor took a break from acting and moved back with his parents.

More than ten years on, Bradley still lives with his mother, Gloria Campano, and says they ‘need each other’ after losing their loved one.

Having received the heart-breaking news of his father's diagnosis in 2011, Bradley left Hollywood to be with his family.

During his dad's final days, the actor did ‘everything in his power’ to save him but sadly, he passed just five months later.

It devastated the family, especially his mum Gloria who had been married to Charles for over 36 years.

In an interview with the LA Times, Bradley revealed how his family had struggled to cope and said: "Two years after my father’s death, this is where we are. My family is very close, and my dad dying was brutal for all of us. It was a schism, and its aftershock has not stopped.”

Fearing that she’d be lonely after losing her husband, Bradley relocated her to LA to live with his mum and the pair have been roommates ever since.

Although it isn’t without its difficulties, the actor doesn’t regret the decision.

He told the publication in 2013: "We need each other. So here we are. But don’t get me wrong. It’s not without complications. It’s not like I live in a compound and she’s in the guesthouse. No. She’s in the next room."

However, the pair have an exceptionally strong bond and respect each other’s space.

"But here’s the thing: She’s a cool chick,” he joked, adding: “We can hang, and she can roll with the punches. If that wasn’t the case, there’s no way."

Bradley's mum even stayed with her son during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with her granddaughter Lea and two dogs.

The A Star is Born actor felt it was the safest option and had been keen to protect her from the virus, as she was particularly vulnerable.

If he couldn’t get any more adorable, the actor often brings his mum to red carpets and even took her to the Academy Awards last year alongside his ex-partner, Irina Shayk.

Earlier this month, the pair appeared together in a side-splitting ad for T-Mobile that was aired during the Super Bowl.

In the ad, Gloria took several swipes at her son including the fact that he never won an Oscar despite being nominated nine times.
