Rihanna had the support of her boyfriend A$AP Rocky when she took to the stage at the Oscars

He may not be up for any Oscars, but A$AP Rocky could very well be in the running for the Best Boyfriend award.

The rapper was attending the Academy Awards to support his girlfriend Rihanna as she took to the stage to perform.

A pregnant Rihanna was performing 'Lift Me Up' from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

The 35-year-old singer was met with rapturous applause and support from the audience, including her doting boyfriend.

After she wrapped up her performance, the camera cut to Rocky in the audience.

The 34-year-old, dressed smartly in a black and white tuxedo, threw his fist in the air with a grin on his face.

Rocky then took his glass of champagne and raised it to toast Rihanna's performance.

His show of support didn't go unnoticed by viewers who took to social media to applaud the 'Fashion Killa' singer for his enthusiasm.

"The way A$AP Rocky is always genuinely happy for Rihanna and cheering her on >>> #Oscars," one person tweeted.

Another fan said: "A$AP Rocky always happy for Rihanna whenever she performs #Oscars."

A third admirer concurred, writing: "A$AP Rocky being Hollywood’s biggest wife guy over the past couple of months is weirdly sweet #oscars."

This latest display of affection is nothing new for the rapper, as he shown up to support his superstar girlfriend many times before.

He also showed up to support Rihanna at the Golden Globes, where her song for the latest Black Panther movie had also been nominated.

And of course, Rocky was Rihanna's biggest supporter when she took to the stage at this year's Super Bowl for her long awaited comeback performance.

One person who noticed Rocky's encouraging behaviour was Olivia Wilde, but her comments drew some criticism online.

The Don't Worry Darling director took to her Instagram at the time to comment on the rapper’s supportive ways, writing over a screenshot of him: "I thought he was hot before, this really put me over the edge."

When her comments were branded 'inappropriate' by many online, she went on the defence.

After removing the post, the 39-year-old said: "It’s hot to respect your partner. Especially when your partner just did thaaaaaat."

Rocky and Rihanna have been dating since 2020 and welcomed their son into the family in May 2022. Rihanna's second pregnancy had been a secret to the wider world until she revealed her baby bump while performing the Super Bowl halftime show.
