A model is redefining beauty standards by embracing her unibrow and has been landing some of the biggest magazine shoots in the world as a result.

Sophia Hadjipanteli is not just a model, but an activist and founder of the #UnibrowMovement, encouraging women to embrace their natural beauty.

Elaborating on her unique look, she said she isn't influenced by beauty trends and just does 'whatever she wants'.

After being bullied in school for her unique look, Sophia has gone on to feature in the likes of Vanity Fair, Vogue and Elle.

Sophia links her thick eyebrows to her Greek Cypriot heritage, explaining that it allowed her to 'experiment' a lot, since her brow would 'always end up growing back'.

Speaking to 7News, Sophia said she wouldn't change a thing about her strong unibrow, explaining that she loves being able to change up her look and going against the grain.

"If I want to be out there and really expressive and be myself, I get to wear whatever I want, and I get to embrace the unibrow - and if I don’t, I can always tone it down," she said.

"But it’s always my decision - and I think that’s why a lot of people follow me because I’m just myself, and I’m not really influenced by what everybody else is telling me to do."

The model also went on to explain how she would respond to trolls who criticise her look - and with half a million Instagram followers, it looks like Sophia isn't short on supporters either.

"I’m not going to sit here and be ignorant of the fact that there are so many people in the world who just don’t think it’s cute - and that’s totally fine," she said.

“But my number one thing is, if you don’t like it, it doesn’t mean that somebody else doesn’t love it on themselves.

“Whether it’s green hair or embracing your freckles, or embracing your unibrow, you should be allowed to do that without feeling scared or embarrassed.

“That’s the most powerful thing you can ever do - be yourself, even if everybody else doesn’t want you to be."

Sophia is now using her impressive platform to share that exact message with people all over the world.

Using her hashtag #UnibrowMovement, Sophia's fans and followers can find other like-minded people who are embracing their natural look, redefining beauty standards one step at a time.

"There actually are a lot of people today that really care a lot about looks - but looks are not everything", said Sophia.

“They should make you feel confident, but you shouldn’t feel pressured to change.”
