Our Father Director Reveals What Dr Cline Is Doing Now

The film's director, Lucie Jourdan, spoke about what Dr Cline is doing now.

Our Father director Lucie Jourdan has revealed what happened to Dr Donald Cline - the subject of the shocking docu-film which dropped on Netflix earlier this month.

Viewers were left disgusted by the documentary after it arrived on the streaming platform. It tells the story of Dr Cline and his estimated 94 offspring, who he fathered after inseminating female patients with his own sperm without their consent in Indianapolis across the 1970s and 1980s.

You can watch the trailer below:

Through his fertility clinic, Dr Cline's patients believed they were being inseminated either by donors or by their partner's sperm, but unbeknownst to them, Cline was secretly using his own samples.

At the time of the Netflix documentary's release, he is believed to have fathered 94 children - many of whom ended up living 'within a 25-mile radius of each other'.

Despite this, following an investigation, it was deemed that Cline had not violated criminal law. He was given a $500 (£400) fine and lost his medical licence - although by this point, he had already retired.

Jacoba was the first to discover what had happened.

Speaking after the documentary was released, director Lucie Jourdan has revealed what has since happened to Cline, since the investigation took place.

Addressing rumours that Cline died, she told The Guardian: “He’s active around his community. He’s going to grandchildren’s swim meets and things like that.

"There’s no hiding. That’s the thing, he’s still out and about. In his head, I don’t think he thinks he’s done much wrong.”

The truth about Cline inseminating countless women with his own sperm was sparked by one of the siblings, Jacoba Ballard.

In 2014, Jacoba decided to use a 23andMe DNA testing kit where she discovered she had a handful of half siblings. As she began digging into her family tree, she learned that her biological father was a man named Donald Cline - her parents' fertility doctor.

Following Jacoba's discovery, more and more siblings came forward to be tested, eventually discovering they were also victim to Cline.

Despite the lenient penalty he received, eventually, in 2019, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb signed a law that made fertility fraud and deception illegal in the state.
