Netflix has dropped the first teaser for the new season of Top Boy and the release date.

Fans will be pleased to know it's sooner than you think!

Watch the teaser below to find out the release date:

Top Boy made its Netflix debut in 2019 after airing two seasons on Channel 4 in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

After the revival became a huge success for the streaming network, another season was ordered all the way back in February 2020. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the second season was delayed before officially going into production in April last year.

Ashley Walters will be returning as Dushane (
Netflix)

Key characters Dushane (Ashley Walters) and Sully (Kano), and new characters introduced in the previous season, Jamie (Michael Ward) and Shelley (Little Simz) are returning to the Summerhouse estate this year.

In the most recent season, Dushane returned to London to reclaim his throne in the drug market, teaming up with his long time collaborator and friend, Sully, who had returned from prison.

However, they were now faced with competition, as young and ambitious gang leader Jamie (Michael Ward) had taken his own slice of the market, with no plans to give it back without a fight.

Filmmaker and director Aneil Karia, who directed three episodes of the most recent season, teased what fans can expect from the hotly anticipated new batch of stories.

He told NME: “I haven’t been on board with series four but I’m still close to everyone in that Top Boy family.

Kano will be back for the new season (
Netflix)

“I’m good friends with Kano and I speak to Ashley [Walters] as well so I’ve been hearing bits and bobs about it.

“As a fan, I’m really, really excited to see more. I know that all the old favourites [are back] but there’s also some really exciting new characters.

“It sounds like they’re expanding the world in a really interesting way.

Top Boy returns 18th March on Netflix.
