Netflix Releases Stranger Things Season 4 Trailer And Confirms Release Date

Stranger Things season 4 is coming in 2022 - and Netflix has teased its release online.

Stop whatever you're doing Stranger Things fans. Netflix has just announced that the fourth season of the sci-fi show is coming in 2022.

And as the bombshell dropped, so did a teaser-trailer.

Check it out below:

Alongside the clip, which featured iconic moments from the series so far alongside glimpses at season 4, Netflix wrote: "Stranger Things returns in 2022! See you in the upside down".

A longer, 30-second trailer is set to air tonight during NBC’s Tokyo Olympics coverage.

The news is much awaited for many fans of the show, seeing as season 3 aired two and a half years ago.

Netflix has been baiting us about the arrival of season 4 for quite some time, first confirming the return of David Harbour's Hopper in February 2020.

In May, there was another trailer, centring around lead protagonist Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, and hinting that Dr. Martin Brenner, played by Matthew Modine, could be making a comeback.

The long wait for the new series comes partially as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Season 4 originally begun filming in February 2020, but was suspended as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

It resumed filming in September.

In case you need a reminder, season 3 ended with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) fleeing Indiana to start afresh, with her sons (Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Brown) in toe.

While we initially thought Hopper had died in an explosion at the Soviet lab, we found out in a trailer that he is actually alive, trapped in Russia under enemy command.

Fans have been waiting for news of the instalment for years (

“It’s not all good news for our ‘American’ (Hopper); he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other,” the Duffer brothers - who created the show - said last year.

“Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything. Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more.”

The fourth instalment will feature Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, , Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery and Priah Ferguson. Plus, newbies Amybeth McNulty, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen, and Grace Van Dien will be appearing.

Other cast members include Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco and Joseph Quinn.

This looks sure to be a dramatic ride.
