Filming began in February 2020, but was suspended the following month as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. It resumed filming in September.

Netflix released a detailed plot description for the upcoming season in February 2021. Season 4 will take place six months after the battle of Starcourt and will begin with the main group of friends separated for the first time and navigating high school.

Fans of the sci-fi series have been given two teaser trailers prior to the new trailer today.

In May 2021, a teaser centring around lead protagonist Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) hinted at the possible comeback of Dr. Martin Brenner (played by Matthew Modine).

A longer trailer was released in August last year, confirming that the new batch of episodes would be released in 2022.

In case you need a reminder, season 3 ended with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) fleeing Indiana to start afresh, with her sons, Will (Noah Schnapp) and Jonathan, (Charlie Heaton) and Eleven (Brown).

Fans initially thought Hopper (David Harbour) had died in an explosion at the Soviet lab, but the trailer revealed that he is actually alive, trapped in Russia under enemy command.

Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 premieres 27th May and Vol. 2 premieres 1st July on Netflix.
