Netflix has released a brand new sneak peak of the long-awaited fourth season of Stranger Things.

Watch the new trailer below:

The new season of the sci-fi show is coming next month. The long wait for the new series comes partially as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming began in February 2020, but was suspended the following month as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. It resumed filming in September.

Netflix released a detailed plot description for the upcoming season in February 2021. Season 4 will take place six months after the battle of Starcourt and will begin with the main group of friends separated for the first time and navigating high school.

The description reads: “In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”

The fourth instalment will feature the return of Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery and Priah Ferguson.

There will also be lots of new faces, including: Amybeth McNulty, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen, and Grace Van Dien will be appearing.

Season 4 was delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic. (

Other cast members include Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco and Joseph Quinn.

Fans of the sci-fi series have been given two teaser trailers prior to the new trailer today.

In May 2021, a teaser centring around lead protagonist Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) hinted at the possible comeback of Dr. Martin Brenner (played by Matthew Modine).

A longer trailer was released in August last year, confirming that the new batch of episodes would be released in 2022.

In case you need a reminder, season 3 ended with Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) fleeing Indiana to start afresh, with her sons, Will (Noah Schnapp) and Jonathan, (Charlie Heaton) and Eleven (Brown).

Fans initially thought Hopper (David Harbour) had died in an explosion at the Soviet lab, but the trailer revealed that he is actually alive, trapped in Russia under enemy command.

Stranger Things 4 Vol. 1 premieres 27th May and Vol. 2 premieres 1st July on Netflix.
