Stranger Things Fans Are Convinced Eddie's Dying And It Actually Makes A Lot Of Sense

This better be wrong...

Stranger Things fans have a theory that beloved new character Eddie Munson is going to die by the end of the fourth season, and we hate to say it, but it sort of makes sense.

Eddie (Joseph Quinn) quickly became a fan-favourite this season when he was first introduced as the high school senior and head of the Hellfire Club, where the boys play Dungeons and Dragons.

He also stole viewers' hearts when he made a connection with cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham in the opening episode of the new season during a drug deal in the woods. Romantic, we know.

After the first half of season four dropped on Netflix, fans have been busy theorising who they think will make it through the final batch of episodes, and who might meet a grisly end.

And we're so sorry to say this, but one of the main contenders is charming anarchist Eddie.

Taking his theory to Twitter, one Stranger Things fan explained: "Stranger Things has a trend of introducing really likeable characters only for them to be killed in the same season."

Offering examples, they posted photos of Barb Holland, Dr Alexei, and Bob Newby.

Many fans may remember the trending hashtag '#JusticeForBarb' that went viral after season one of Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in 2016, after Barb (Shannon Purser) kicked the bucket during a party at Steve Harrington's house.

In season two, fans were left heaving and sobbing after the death of Bob Newby (Sean Astin) – the manager at Hawkins' Radio Shack and Joyce Byers' boyfriend. Bob was devastatingly killed by a number of Demodogs while saving Will Byers.

And, in season three, Russian scientist Dr Alexei provided some sweet comic relief when he joined Joyce, Hopper, and Murray in their attempts to close the door to the upside down. That's why viewers were so heartbroken when he was unexpectedly shot and killed by a Russian hitman during a day out at the fun fair.

Following this pattern, it looks like another beloved character could be on the way out in the final two episodes of Stranger Things, set to drop on Netflix on 1 July.

Reacting to the theory that Eddie could be next to go, fans took to Twitter to express their outrage.

"If they kill him I'm gonna cry for days, he was so special during this season," wrote one worried fanatic.

"Pls dont tell me eddie going to die in this season," tweeted a second.

"Hopefully they break the trend by killing off a character we all hate..." suggested a third, pointing to jock Jason Carver.

We'll have to hold off a few more weeks before we find out!
