Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Peaky Blinders!
Fans are still pulling themselves back together after Sunday night's episode of Peaky Blinders, describing the closing moments as one of the most 'heartbreaking' scenes of the entire series.
Viewers were not ready to have their hearts stomped on by Tommy and Lizzie Shelby, but when Tommy came home to some bad news, there was nothing that could stop the tears from flowing.
Watch the devastating scene here:
After meeting with Esme, Tommy learned that his daughter Ruby's illness was brought on by the same cursed sapphire that he had blamed for Grace's death.
And despite his best efforts to protect Ruby from the curse, we find her critically ill with consumption as Lizzie stays with her in hospital.
When the episode came to and end, we watched on as Tommy came home to an inconsolable Lizzie, who revealed that Ruby had sadly died.
As if things couldn't get any more horrific for Tommy, Lizzie informs him through tears that Ruby had been asking for him just before she died.
After wiping away tears, viewers took to Twitter to discuss the emotional scene.
One tweeted: "Heartbreaking. Can’t believe he didn’t have a change to say goodbye #PeakyBlinders."
A second fan added: "one of the most heartbreaking scenes in peaky blinders ever, my heart is hurting so much #PeakyBlinders"
Meanwhile, a third admitted: "well im not gonna recover for a long time after this #PeakyBlinders".
A fourth commented: "the emotional damage this scene has caused me is undescribable [sic]."
And a fifth wrote: "#PeakyBlinders “she was asking just now for you” NAH I’VE HAD ENOUGH"
Other fans are already calling for Cillian Murphy and Natasha O'Keefe to land "all of the awards" after the scene.
One heartbroken viewer demanded: "give them ALL THE AWARDS . Now. #PeakyBlinders."
Another wrote: Give Cillian Murphy and Natasha O Keefe all the awards!! The way Lizzie was sobbing and had to hold back tears to talk is 😭 and Tommy’s confusion but yet the pain and devastation on his face #peakyblinders #imsobitterithurts".
We don't think fans will ever get over this scene.
Peaky Blinders continues on Sunday, 20th March, at 9pm on BBC One.
