People can't stop talking about Sky Atlantic's new horror comedy series The Baby, and its brutally honest portrayal of motherhood.
The eight-part series, which was written, directed, and executive produced by an all-female team, has viewers quaking in their boots as it dissects some of the more horrifying aspects of motherhood. Check out the trailer here:
The Baby follows Natasha (Michelle de Swarte), a 38-year-old woman who has no interest in becoming a mum, and is beginning to struggle to relate to her friends who are becoming parents.
Natasha's worst nightmare comes true one eerie night, when a baby falls out of the sky into her arms.
Desperate to get the child out of her hands, Natasha soon begins experiencing gory events wherever she takes the little infant and realises that, while she may not want the baby, the baby wants her.
Not only has the limited series received rave reviews for its suspenseful plot and dark humour, but viewers were seriously impressed by the spot-on portrayal of motherhood and the struggles that come with it.

Whether it's the day-to-day struggles and unwarranted judgements that come with motherhood, or the societal pressure and further judgements that come with opting out of motherhood, this horror series covers all bases.
Taking to Twitter after finishing the show, fans were eager to share their thoughts.

Blown away by the series, which airs on HBO Max in the US, a third viewer suggested: "If anyone wonders at mothers getting upset about being called 'selfish', I suggest watching #TheBaby.
"Telling the truth about motherhood had to be presented as a supernatural tale. Aside from that, It’s a good show on several levels."

"I thought it was a fantastic mini series. Chilling, funny, while being a commentary on the struggles of motherhood. Hoping for a S2 to resolve the last couple episodes."
