**Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Luckiest Girl Alive**

People who eagerly tuned into Mila Kunis' new thriller flick Luckiest Girl Alive have urged Netflix to add a trigger warning to the beginning of the film, after certain graphic scenes took them by surprise.

The film, based on Jessica Knoll's best-selling novel of the same name, tells the story of Ani FaNelli (Mila Kunis), a successful New Yorker who seems to have it all - but as the past starts to sneak up on her, she's forced to face her trauma head-on.

While overall it has been pretty well received online, some viewers have complained that the darker scenes took them by surprise, since there's no indication of them in the trailer:

From the outside, it seems like Ani has it all, from her killer wardrobe to her sky-rocketing career at a glossy magazine to her hunky fiancé.

But when the director of a crime documentary reaches out to invite her to tell her side of the shocking incident that took place when she was a teenager, Ani is forced to confront a dark truth that threatens to unravel her meticulously crafted life.

If you haven't seen the film yet and don't want to have it spoiled, now would be a good time to turn away.

It turns out that Ani was the survivor of a school shooting, as well as a harrowing gang rape, at just 14 years of age.

While the trailer hinted at Ani's experience of the devastating school shooting, the graphic rape scenes were a complete surprise to viewers.

"I did not realise what #LuckiestGirlAlive was about before watching it. That movie needs a major trigger warning. Several actually," tweeted one shocked viewer.

People think that Luckiest Girl Alive should come with a trigger warning.

Someone else replied: "Yessss! I didn’t know either and I felt so uncomfortable in the majority of the movie. This whole movie hits multiple different triggers that should be warned about."

After catching the Netflix thriller, another viewer told followers: "Warning. Especially for survivors of sexual assault. The Netflix movie #LuckiestGirlAlive needs red flag trigger warnings. A powerful story. But I wasn't prepared for the graphic rape scenes."

Some Netflix users pointed out that the streaming service does briefly mention under the film title that Luckiest Girl Alive features 'sexual violence' and 'threat', but others think that it isn't enough.

Tyla has contacted Netflix for comment.

Aside from that complaint, the new thriller has been subject to rave reviews from viewers.

People are loving this film, though they do think it should have a trigger warning.

"Luckiest Girl Alive is the best depiction of Complex PTSD I’ve ever seen. A moving portrayal of coping with assault in a culture that protects the perpetrators," commented one impressed Netflix user.

"Luckiest Girl Alive on Netflix is one of the most powerful things I've ever watched," tweeted a second.

Luckiest Girl Alive is available to stream on Netflix now.
