Netflix Drops New Crime Series 'The Chestnut Man'

Netflix Drops New Crime Series 'The Chestnut Man'

Netflix are soon releasing Danish crime series 'The Chestnut Man' which follows a serial killer terrorising Copenhagen.

Netflix is fast becoming the home of crime, having released a number of documentaries, fictional crime films and TV shows recently.

Their latest offering is a crime series called The Chestnut Man - a Danish-language show about a psychopathic serial killer who is terrorising the capital city of Copenhagen.

The limited six-episode run will see a body found in a children's playground with the killer's calling card or 'signature', as Criminal Minds or Mindhunter fans will be aware of.

The 'signature' is the eponymous "Chestnut Man", a handmade doll made of matchsticks and two chestnuts.

Detective Naia Thulin (Danica Curcic) and her partner Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) examine the scene and connect the case to the missing daughter of political Rosa Hartung (Iben Dorner) – is she another victim of the notorious Chestnut Man?

As the detectives pursue their investigation, they will soon realise that the killer is on a mission, not only to terrorise the city, that will put everyone at risk.

The clues pile up, but so do the bodies and audiences will have to watch with gritted teeth to see if the police can catch him before it's too late.

The twisted and disturbing series will be perfect for fans of crime and nordic-noir genres, and comes from the creator of another popular Danish investigative show, The Killing.

The Chestnut Man is based on the bestselling debut novel by writer Søren Sveistrup

Sveistrup said of the adaptation: "Netflix has shown a strong, genuine interest in my book. I'm excited about the deal and confident that Netflix will be the perfect place for The Chestnut Man."

Though not much else is known about this thrilling addition to Netflix, we do know that it will be released at the end of the month.

It is possible Netflix will add an English dub to the show, but at the very least it will have English subtitles so we won't have to have Google Translate open while we're watching it.

The Chestnut Man will be released on September 29.
