Man claims he keeps going back to his ex because his new partner isn't attractive enough

Man claims he keeps going back to his ex because his new partner isn't attractive enough

After he was brutally honest with her, she returned to deliver the mother of all speeches

A contestant on Married at First Sight Australia has left viewers seething after he admitted he keeps going back to his ex because his new partner wasn’t attractive enough.

Caitlin McConville, 27, was left in tears after the Eye Gazing task took a heartbreaking turn when her new husband admitted he didn’t find her good looking.

She had been paired with Shannon Adams, who boldly kept going back to his ex - a move he said was all down to Caitlin’s looks.

Caitlin bravely told Shannon it felt like he’s done a ‘180’ on their relationship, saying she’d found him to be increasingly ‘emotionally distant’.

Her beau then explained why there had been a definite shift, saying: “You are a good looking girl, but not in my eyes.

“I thought you were going to come down that aisle and completely blow me away.”

Shannon admitted that he would’ve been able to cut things off with his ex if he’d been blown away by his new partner.

"Honestly, those things I was saying about my ex, I wouldn’t have even contemplated even saying that,” he told her.

“I would’ve just cut it.”

Shannon was brutally honest with Caitlin, who was left in tears.

To clarify what on Earth was going on, Caitlin then asked him: “So, what you’re saying is, you were hoping that you would see someone who would cut things with your ex instantly - and you didn’t, and that’s why that happened?”

Speaking to the camera after the confrontation, a ‘gobsmacked’ Caitlin broke down in tears.

“I feel sick," she said as she sobbed.

“That whole speech was about how I wasn't good enough. I feel like I was getting torn to shreds.”

Caitlin felt like she was being 'torn to shreds'.

After having some time to process how badly she was being ‘walked on’ after doing ‘nothing but support him’, Caitlin returned to the room to lay down the law in a moment that led to a virtual round of applause online.

“It's my turn to talk,” she said defiantly.

“You don't need to love me, you don't need to like me, but you do need to respect me because I am a brilliant person, I'm amazing.

“It is a privilege to be in this experiment with me.

“And I'm not going to sit here and cop it anymore. I deserve better.”

She then walked out with her head held high, leaving Shannon in the apartment.

YESSSSSS CAITLIN. KNOW. YOUR. WORTH. HONEY!!!

She returned to tell Shannon she deserved better.

Many viewers couldn’t help but praise Caitlin’s incredible courage, with one tweeting: “Omg. Caitlin was amazeballs then.”

Someone else said: “Go Caitlin, Shannon is not good enough for you! Yes, you deserve so, so much better.”

While a third wrote: “Good girl Caitlin! Shannon is a vile human being #MAFSAU.”

Slamming Shannon’s comments, another commented: “This is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard in this programme. F***ing prick. #MAFSAU.”

Another agreed: “I don’t understand how anyone could be so cruel to say such things, especially in front of the cameras. It must be hard enough for Caitlin to hear this, without having an audience. It’s disgusting behaviour.”
