Married at First Sight bride shocked after discovering husband, 51, still lives with parents

Could this be enough to send the bride running?

If you're going to sign up for a show like Married at First Sight, you'll to have to be a lot more open-minded than the average person - because Lord knows who could be waiting for you at the altar.

For those unfamiliar with the E4 show's concept, strangers looking for love are matched together by relationship experts, but don't get to meet their new match until they're walking down the aisle and exchanging vows. Like I said: open-minded.

To her credit, contestant Lara, 49, is doing her very best to stay neutral after meeting her new husband Richie, 51 on Thursday night.

Richie and Lara didn't get off to the best start.

As they got to know each other - dressed up in their wedding attire - Richie revealed some 'red flags' that could be potential deal-breakers for your run-of-the-mill relationship.

Posing for their wedding photos, Richie first set off alarm bells for his new wife when he revealed that he had never been married before. Not only that, but he's never even been in love.

Lara, who has been married and divorced twice already, later told cameras: "It’s worrying to be at our age and never to have a serious relationship or fell in love."

Richie, who worked in the music industry for over 20 years, then casually dropped into conversation that he was still living at home with his parents.

"My parents are just dying to get me out of the house", he joked.

Richie still lives at home with his mum and dad.

Lara said in her confessional that Richie living at home with his parents was 'a little bit of a red flag', but was determined to give her new partner a fair chance.

"I’m going to choose just to let it live and see how it goes", she insisted.

Meanwhile, it appears that Richie will have just as much trouble trying to adjust to Lara's lifestyle, after learning she has two children.

When the former dancer cut right to the chase and asked him: "Is it worrying for you that I have kids?", Richie answered: "No, not at all! No."

But later, in his own confessional, Richie admitted: "I won’t fool myself to say that’s an easy thing to hear. It’s quite a big thing."

It sounds like these newlyweds might have quite a bit of work to do if they want to make this marriage work - and viewers at home think so, too.

Is Richie ready to swap his cushy life at home with his mum and dad for a wife and two step-children? And will Lara be the one who finally makes him say the 'L' word? Or was this couple doomed from the start?

Married At First Sight continues at 9:00pm on Sunday night on E4.
