Love Island: Stroke Victim Says He 'Owes His Life' To Paige

Love Island: Stroke Victim Says He 'Owes His Life' To Paige

Paige worked as a paramedic before her reality TV stint

A man has named Love Island star Paige Thorne as the person who saved his life after suffering a stroke.

58-year-old Andy Humphries from Mayhill, Swansea, had been visiting his local GP when he had a stroke in the reception area of the doctor's surgery.

Paramedics were called to the scene to resuscitate Andy, and among them was Paige, 24, who stayed with him all the way through the frightening experience.

Paige, 24, left the villa on Sunday night (31 July) with Adam Collard, 26, on her arm, after the couple came fifth place on this year's series.

Having been named as one of the vulnerable couples left in the villa, it was a public vote that eventually decided Paige and Adam would be next to go.

However, one person who had been rooting for Paige from day one was Andy Humphries.

Recalling his brief encounter with Paige, he told WalesOnline: "When I came round, she was there and was so dedicated, she waited with me for seven hours in the ambulance and as I waited at hospital.

"I owe my life to her, and she was so good to me. She waited with me when I got to the hospital, she stayed while I had scans. It happened just before the first lockdown, and she told me that she had not long qualified, but she was amazing and totally wonderful."

He continued: "She is only tiny, but she has a big personality and she will be fantastic on the show, but I do feel very protective about her and don't want anyone being horrible to her.

"I can't speak highly enough of her. It was only when her shift ended and she had made sure that everyone was fully briefed about my condition, that she left my side."

Paige had a rollercoaster of a journey in the Love Island villa, but was always a favourite among fans and made it just short of the final.

Originally, Paige was coupled up with Luca Bish, but it wasn't long before Luca set his sights on Gemma Owen - and the couple have been together ever since.

After a brief single stint, Paige was whisked off her feet by bombshell Jacques O'Neill. The couple stayed together for a number of weeks - despite a brief interruption from Jay Younger, who also had eyes for Paige.

Paige, along with viewers at home, had noticed a few 'red flags' from Jacques during their brief romance, but things only got worse when he was let loose in Casa Amor.

While Jacques came back single, it was soon revealed he had been trying it on with Casa bombshell Cheyanne behind Paige's back.

The couple tried their best to make amends, but when Love Island veteran Adam Collard strutted into the villa, Jacques struggled to keep his cool.

After Jacques decided to leave the villa early, Paige and Adam wasted no time coupling up, and they've been inseparable ever since.

The Love Island final airs on Monday night at 9:00pm on ITV2 and ITVHub.
