Love Island's Danny Bibby Breaks His Silence On Racism Scandal After Leaving The Villa

Love Island's Danny Bibby Breaks His Silence On Racism Scandal After Leaving The Villa

Danny has spoken out since being booted out the villa.

Love Island's Danny Bibby has officially broken his silence after he found his time in the villa marred by a racism scandal.

A year before Danny entered the programme, he had responded to a friend complimenting a picture on Instagram by using the n-word.

While the 25-year-old plumber issued an apology from Mallorca, he has now set the record on the matter straight once more on his Instagram page.

"Whilst I would have liked to have stayed in a little longer so people could have got to know the real Danny Bibby, I am glad to be back so I can address the matter of the post on Instagram properly," he said.

"Whilst I was made aware of this and issued an apology whilst in the villa, the matter has always been on the front of my mind during the days in there and I would like to now add to what was said. After seeing all the comments and reaction to the post, I understand more that the use of the word, even in the way it was written and intended, is deeply offensive to people and I am truly sorry for using that word.

"I was always aware that written in the other way was a vile term, and I would never use it. But I was unaware that the way I used it was not. I have listened too the likes of 50cent, drake and Eminem since I was a kid, and I used it like they do as a term of friends/bro/brother. THAT IS THE TRUTH.

"I now know the term is unacceptable in any context, and will NEVER use it again. Education is key to solving problems, and I have learned a very valuable lesson. I hope others will too. I whole heartedly apologise to anyone who I have offended and ask your forgiveness.

"I would like to now get on a normal life with my brilliant friends and family."

Following Danny's arrival in the villa last week, many viewers were calling for him to be booted out the show for his use of a racial slur.

Taking a screenshot of the racist comment, YouTuber Murad Merali said: "This new Danny guy?! Excuse me? Just cancel this season immediately."

"The fact he posted that with absolutely no shame is scary," one person agreed, while another said: "[Love Island] removed [season 5 contestant] Sherif with such quickness, imma need them to do the same with him."

Danny's father, Richard, was forced to speak out to protect his son.

"Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post," he said. "Although it was not done maliciously, it was a mistake. I absolutely apologise on his behalf for the offence this wording may have caused. That would never have been his intention."

This story is breaking and will be updated.
