Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken publicly for the first time since it was announced her show Red Table Talk was cancelled.

Red Table Talk launched back in May 2018 and saw Jada, daughter, Willow, and her mum Adrienne Banfield-Norris talk about a whole host of topics, from motherhood and grief, to sexuality and racial issues.

It was also where Jada first spoke about her ‘entanglement’ with singer August Alsina while she and husband Will Smith were separated - and who can forget that?

The show, which won an Emmy, attracted a slew of high-profile guests, including Sex and the City star Kristin Davis, Alicia Keys, Demi Moore, Jordyn Woods, Snoop Dogg and Paris Jackson.

However, earlier this week, Deadline reported that the show was being cancelled by Facebook parent company Meta, alongside all of its other Facebook Watch originals.

Jada’s husband Will Smith joined her on the show where they spoke openly about their relationship.

The decision was announced as Mina Lefevre, who was Head of Development and Programming at Meta, is leaving the company as part of the latest round of layoffs.

Facebook had already scaled back on its original programming, but has now scrapped all remaining FB Watch Originals and is shifting focus to creating VR experiences.

In a post on Instagram, Jada has shared her thoughts on the show’s cancellation.

“We are so grateful to have had such a beautiful partnership with Facebook Watch,” she wrote. “And we are sorry to see the entire team disband. We wish everyone well in their new journeys to come.

“We at Red Table are in talks of finding a new home and we’ll see you soon.”

Jada has now released a statement.

Fans of the show were left gutted by the news, while others remained hopeful that it would be picked up by another platform soon.

One fan commented: “Any network would be lucky to acquire your show.”

Another said: “Hold your head up Jada, you still have a large following. Looking forward to supporting your next adventure.”

While a third commented: “There’s nothing like the Red Table Talk out there - and the amount I’ve learned from your show is immense - I know you’ll find another partner - cos the show is needed.”

“Thank you for everything you've done through RTT and looking forward to the new home of this show,” a fan wrote.

Someone else commented: “Looking forward to watching it once you find a new home for it! Thank you for the great content that’s been shared!”
