I'm a Celebrity LIVE: Guide and highlights from tonight's episode on ITV

Follow our live coverage of the return of ITV's I'm a Celebrity, with a guide to and highlights from tonight's (6 November) episode

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here made its return to our screens tonight (6 November).

Now that Covid restrictions have been lifted, it means ITV's hit reality show is back in Australia where a host of new celebrities will take part in the Bushtucker Trials and compete to be named King or Queen of the Jungle.

Ant and Dec are back as hosts alongside an exciting line up of stars who are ready as they'll ever be to munch on some animal testicles and get showered in creepy crawlies.

That includes Love Island contestant Olivia Attwood - who was voted the Jungle VIP guest - as well as singer Boy George, Loose Women's Charlene White and footballer Jill Scott.

Soap stars Sue Cleaver and Owen Warner are also on the bill, with the latter proving to be a fan favourite already with his hilarious asides.

Gogglebox fave Babatunde Aleshe, A Place in the Sun presenter Scarlette Douglas, radio host Chris Moyles and rugby player Mike Tindall all made an appearance too.

But perhaps the most talked about contestant is former health minister Matt Hancock, who will be entering the show as a late arrival.

We've been reporting live on the new season's premiere, as well as keeping track of any noteworthy events from the night.

Follow our live coverage below...

KEY Points

  • Why Matt Hancock won't be entering the jungle tonight

  • Babatunde becomes first celeb to dip out of challenge

That's a wrap for the first episode of this year's I'm a Celebrity - it's been a fun-filled night of hilarious moments and heart-stopping challenges, and thankfully there's plenty more where that came from.

Roll on episode two, which airs tomorrow night (7 November) on ITV at 9pm.

See you there!

Owen pokes himself in the eye after hilarious gaffe

The Hollyoaks star is already proving to be an endless source of comedic gold - not long after his A Place in the Sun blunder, he purposely poked himself in the eye.

Here's how that conversation went:

Owen: "What does a fish eye feel like"?

Sue: "Touch your eye"

Owen: *pokes eye*

Owen is already proving to be a fan favourite.

"I loved it when sue told Owen to poke himself in the eye and he did it.. cracked me up," wrote one fan on Twitter.

Another said: "Owen is definitely the next Joey Essex after he poked his own eye on purpose to see what it felt like."

Viewers call Mike Tindall the 'winner' after horrifying spider moment

Eight-legged beasts are clearly going to be no problem for the former rugby union player, who didn't even flinch when a gigantic spider latched onto his head.

Mike was too busy hunting for stars in the Critter Cruise Challenge to even notice the spider, but the same couldn't be said for the viewers at home.

Sharing a picture of the moment, one wrote on Twitter: "Not even bothered an itsy bitsy about the giant spider on his head... @miketindall13. 'Fear is a choice', he says ... The winner!"

Why Matt Hancock won't be entering the jungle tonight

Although fans are excited to see the former MP on the show (so they can vote for him to get all of the worst challenges), you're going to have to wait a bit.

This is due to how the show is structured, as the two final contestants have always arrived around four episodes in.

If producers stick to this format, this means Hancock will arrive on 9 November - not long to wait, though this hasn't stopped people from airing their frustration that he's not on tonight's episode.

Should be just a few more days, folks.

Viewers spot bizarre Olivia Attwood strawberry moment

Have you ever seen anyone eat a strawberry like this? Only in celeb world...

Eagle-eyed viewers were left confused after seeing Olivia use a knife and fork to cut up a single berry.

A clip of the moment was shared on Twitter by ex-I’m a Celeb campmate Roman Kemp, who wrote: "Olivia using a knife and fork to eat a strawberry has already won #ImACeleb."

Hollyoaks star makes hilarious gaffe

Owen Warner got caught out when asking about his co-star Scarlette Douglas. The conversation when a little something like this:

Boy George: "She's from A Place In The Sun"

Own: "Whereabouts?"

Boy George: "The show"

Whoops!

Babatunde dips out of terrifying challenge

The Gogglebox star became the first celeb to yell 'get me out of here' as he took part in a revamped version of The Ledge challenge.

Viewers are now saying he'll get 'voted for every challenge' after bottling it.

Martin Lewis' claws are out

The Money Saving Expert took to Twitter to suggest the celebrity contestants are there for one of three reasons. Check it out:

Olivia is getting the VIP treatment

The public have voted for Olivia to be the Jungle VIP guest, and she's chosen Chris to join her.

She sounded pretty apprehensive about the vote, and she was right to be concerned - as it turned out VIP in this case stands for 'very isolated person'.

More on this to come!

The Matt Hancock jokes have already started

Everyone's waiting to see the MP enter the jungle (mostly so they can vote for him to take on all the most grisly challenges).

He's already been teased by Ant and Dec after they said they'll be 'rolling out the welcome Matt' for the new arrivals later in the show.

Viewers say 'Christmas countdown' has begun

It's official - I'm a Celebrity has begun. And for many people, they consider it to be their countdown to Christmas.

"Started getting the Christmas booze in earlier," wrote one on Twitter. "Now #ImACeleb is starting too. Christmas is close man. Colder nights with the telly on. Throw in a world cup. canny wait."

"Here we go!!! The countdown to Christmas begins!! #ImACeleb," wrote another, while a third added, "Now #ImACeleb is on we can say it’s nearly Christmas."

Let the countdown begin!

Olivia Atwood has a secret way to communicate with her fiancé

After touching down in Australia, the former Love Island star admitted she’ll miss fiancé Bradley Dack while taking part in the show.

But she's got a special way of communicating with the footballer.

"I have got a really cute idea as well so I will save it for in the camp," she told The Sun at Brisbane Airport.

"We have got a few little set ups."

This is in addition to their matching bracelets, which she spoke about in a recent Q&A on Instagram after a fan asked where the jewellery came from.

Sharing a photo of their blue string bracelets, Attwood replied: "Little beach shop in Portugal. Been holding onto them for something special."

Cute!
