God's Favourite Idiot viewers are already calling for a second season of the limited Netflix series, after it ended on a cliffhanger that 'confused' fans.

The comedy, starring Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone follows mid-level tech support employee Clark Thompson who starts a relationship with his co-worker Amily Luck, but things complicated for Clark when he unwittingly becomes a messenger of God and must prevent the apocalypse from happening. As you do.

While Netflix users made it clear that they thoroughly enjoyed the eight-part series, viewers were admittedly confused when it wrapped.

The series ends with Satan wreaking havoc on Earth while Amily and Clark attempt to escape his wrath.

While the loved-up couple seem to escape unharmed by the series end, Clark is told by God that he'll be on his own for a while and will have to fend for himself without her help.

However, as Clark and Amily drive away, daring to believe that everything might work out okay, a plague of locusts follow along behind them.

After tearing through all eight episodes of the series, fans took to Twitter in praise of Melissa McCarthy's sensational performance, recommending it as a must-watch and calling for a second season... and a third.

"If there's one thing @netflix needs to do, it's bring back #GodsFavoriteIdiot for season 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and... @melissamccarthy and @benfalcone are amazing, as always!" wrote one viewer.

A second fan wrote: "#GodsFavouriteIdiot Please tell me there will be a season 2...and 3....and 4...."

And a third tweeted: "I started #GodsFavouriteIdiot yesterday and it’s [too] funny I can’t wait for season 2."

Viewers also demanded a second season in the hopes of finding out what season one's ending could mean for Clark and Amily.

"#GodsFavouriteIdiot didn’t need to do me like that!!!! That ending….. Hope there’s a Season 2" tweeted one viewer.

"The ending of Gods Favourite Idiot confused me even though it’s apparently not that deep," commented a second.
