Viewers of an 'eerie' series on Netflix are calling for a second season after being positively spooked.

We all love a good mystery thriller - even more so when it's been written by Ryan Murphy, the mind behind American Horror Story.

Starring huge names including Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale and Jennifer Coolidge, TV fans always knew it was going to be good.

First premiering in 2022, the seven-episode nail-biter is loosely based on a piece that was published by The Cut, called 'The Haunting of a Dream House', which told the story of real-life couple Derek and Maria Broaddus.

The series - called The Watcher - revolves around a married couple, Nora Brannock (Watts) and Dean Brannock (Cannavale).

The two lovebirds move into their dream home in New Jersey, but the happiness bubble doesn't last long.

They are relentlessly harassed with spine-chilling letters written by a stalker who refers to themselves as 'The Watcher'.

Despite not impressing critics much at the time, it seems it's landing better with people a couple of years on.

Being available on Netflix, subscribers are discovering it for the first time and asking for more.

One person wrote on X: "The Watcher on Netflix eerie as hell."

A second person added: "So are y’all gon bring us season 2 of The Watcher or are we going to have to wonder who was really watching them people house and climbing through the tunnels @netflix."

A third said: "Oh, 'The Watcher' on Netflix! That's a good choice. It's a suspenseful series that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Perfect for a cozy night in."

Following its release, Stuart Heritage gave it three out of five stars for The Guardian and praised the actors: "Without fail, they all get a chance to do the exact thing they are best at. Farrow is haunted and creepy, Watts is brittle and paranoid, Coolidge seems as if she walked on set having accidentally prepared for a completely different series to everyone else. More than anything, it is this cast that holds The Watcher together."

While The Watcher was renewed for another season in late 2022, it has been quiet since then.

With people across social media absolutely loving it, it's only right you save it for your next binge-watch session, get stuck in and make up your own mind.

The Watcher is available to stream on Netflix now.
