Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Breaks Her Silence On 'Bullying' Scene

Selling Sunset star Chelsea Lazkani made a huge splash when she joined Netflix’s real estate reality series this year.

One scene that still has fans reeling is Chelsea and Christine Quinn’s “caviar and couture” party which ended with Amanza Smith, Chrishell Stause and Emma Hernan calling out Christine to her face.

Chelsea, in an attempt to calm the situation down, said: “When I hear everyone coming at one person, it’s giving me bullying. And even when you may not vibe with her, and dislike her, when you all come together, it’s a lot.”

The 29-year-old has now provided some added context for fans. “None of these ladies are bullies and I can see how it can seem like I was specifically calling them out as bullies,” she tells Tyla following the filming of the reunion.

“I was calling them out for what I saw in a particular instance, if everything was in a vacuum and I don’t have any other intel because that was the first time I had met those ladies."

The mum-of-two also shared why she would take the ‘bully’ term back. “Now, if we could re-do that scene I definitely would approach it a little bit differently and understand that there are dynamics at play that I just don’t understand but I would still call out what I saw as being inappropriate and unfair and I just don’t think it’s nice to throw stones or rocks when someone’s down or add fuel to any fire when someone's having an issue.

“So the bully term? Yeah, I take that back. My stance on that being inappropriate and unacceptable? No, I don’t take that back.”

Chelsea made her presence known during her first season on Netflix’s biggest reality series and to say that the British-Nigerian, luxury real estate agent exudes ultimate main character vibes is an understatement. She’s still pals with Christine, although Chelsea would love to see her more. And no, she has zero idea if the bribing allegations are true.

After Chelsea appeared to give Christine the benefit of the doubt during the reunion by mentioning that brokers often try to one-up each other, she tells Tyla: “I just like to present facts and let people see both sides of the coin. There’s a lot of one sided-ness on the show so I like to present all facts and let everyone make their own decision.

“I haven’t asked Christine anything in regards to bribing because I don’t bloody care. Is it true? maybe. Is it not true? Maybe. I have no idea.”

While Chelsea now has a new legion of fans, she also had to face trolling. People have called her 'cocky', 'annoying' a 'pick me' and 'obnoxious', particularly after she blazed into the office with a staggering offer for the Franklin property in episode seven, despite her cast members not receiving the same treatment for similar proclamations of success.

“My whole life time and time again I’ve always been met with that narrative and growing up I was always told to be seen and not heard. In order to be successful in any profession, you need to have a voice, you need to stand for something, you need to be opinionated and you need to be about your sh*t.

“I’m very aware of the things that are being said. I’d love to say that I’m ignorant to it but I can’t be ignorant to it because I want to be able to change it and to change it I’ve got to recognise it.

“My response to people that say I shouldn’t be confident or outspoken because they’re not used to seeing Black women act that way is would you be saying the same thing if I was White?

“And if you wouldn’t you need to look into yourself and say ‘so why don’t I want to see people of colour in these rooms and be successful’ because to be in these rooms we have to use our voice. Silence won’t get you anywhere.

Chelsea will be back to serve more flamboyant looks in season six and she shared some of her for the future.

“I think they’ll be a baby on the horizon,” she teases. “I’m included by the way because the way it’s going down in my house you never know.

“Second, I predict I’m gonna sell a lot more real estate next season.

“Third, there’s a lot of us and not a lot of desks. I predict somebody either leaves or get fired.”
