Stephen Graham's New Movie Boiling Point Drops

Stephen Graham's New Movie Boiling Point Drops

Line of Duty star Stephen Graham's next role is set in a busy London restaurant kitchen.

Line of Duty star Stephen Graham's new film Boiling Point hits cinemas today.

If you fancy watching something a little more intense rather than regular Christmas films and rom-coms, this one's for you.

Boiling Point explores the high pressure environment and tension working in a restaurant in the heart of the capital ahead of 'Magic Friday', the last Friday before Christmas and the busiest night of the year.

You can watch the trailer below:

Stephen stars as Andy, who is battling with problems at home and is struggling with debts and addiction.

His world takes an unfortunate turn when the health and safety services show up unexpectedly, with a critic also turning up who makes the already busy hectic kitchen environment filled with even more pressure.

Directed by Philip Barantini, the workplace drama was filmed in one-shot to convey the tension that unfolds behind the scenes of a restaurant. The cast also includes Jason Flemyng, Ray Panthaki, Malachi Kirby and Vinette Robinson.

The film was originally released as a 20-minute short film in 2019 before it was adapted into full film.

Speaking with The Guardian, Stephen said one of the aims of the film was to raise awareness of mental health issues in the restaurant industry as well as to shine a light on the pressures involved.

Boiling Point was screened at at the London Film Festival last month and it received fantastic reviews.

Rona Hunnisett said: “#BoilingPoint is a masterclass in tension, discomfort and workplace friction, with another magnificent performance from #StephenGraham - one of the best of his generation.”

Another film festival attendee called the drama "superb" and commended the director's use of the one-shot technique. "This real time drama set in a busy restaurant is a masterclass in filming & acting with an escalating, palpable tension.”

Stephen most recently starred in Channel 4's feature-length drama Help with Jodie Comer (

While Line of Duty fans wait to hear whether the popular BBC drama will return for another season, Stephen most recently starred in Channel 4's feature-length drama Help with Jodie Comer.

The film shines a light on the horrific impact from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic had on care homes in the first few months of the pandemic.

Help focuses primarily on the friendship that forms between a young carer named Sarah (Jodie) and a resident named Tony (Stephen) who has early onset dementia.

Boiling Point will be released in UK cinemas on 29th December, 2021.
