People Are Calling Today's Wordle 'The Hardest Ever'

We were stumped.

Wordle is the internet's latest obsession, but people are really scratching their heads over today's challenge.

If you're unfamiliar, you might recognise Wordle by the series of black, yellow, and green squares that people keep sharing on your Twitter feed.

Only one puzzle is available per day, and everyone in the world is tasked with solving the same puzzle.

Wordle is undeniably addictive, and some players have already found themselves refreshing the game page at the stroke of midnight to play more.

The game, invented by software engineer Josh Wardle (cute!) is relatively straightforward.

All you have to do is guess the daily five-letter word in six tries or less.

When you enter your first guess, your letters will either light up yellow, green, or black.

If it's black, that letter isn't in today's Wordle.

If it's yellow, that letter is in today's Wordle, but it's in the wrong position.

If it's green, that letter is in today's Wordle, and it's in the right position.

Sounds simple enough, right?

Have you been seeing these little squares everywhere? (

Apparently not.

The tag #Wordle219 started trending on Monday when furious players complained about today's puzzle.

Sharing their six rows of squares to Twitter, full of disappointing yellow and black squares, players confessed that they were stumped by today's puzzle.

If you've not yet played today's Wordle, or would like to give it a go, look away now and get back to us if you solved it!

The word of the day on Monday was "Knoll", which means a small hill or mound.

One disappointed player tweeted: ""#Wordle219 was the hardest word in the series so far. Not giving anything away, but you could get left with very few letters if you guess poorly like I did."

Another wrote: "So many people failed today's Wordle that "Wordle 219 X" is trending. a moment of silence for my fallen comrades."

"What on God’s EARTH was that Wordle" commented a third.

Players who managed to guess the word by their sixth guess also opted to share their results on Twitter, rightfully proud of themselves for beating going where most could not go.

"Today was a hard one, but I’ve kept my perfect streak alive!" tweeted one user.

"My joy in life is seeing Wordle 219 X trend on Twitter after managing to get the word right," wrote another.

Best of luck with tomorrow's puzzle, everyone!
